Ideas and Suggestions for a Storyline

Post by Great Milenko »

This is just a suggestion to start up a storyline. I have more ideas I have wrote down, but. I don't have the time to write them all down right now. I am open to any and all suggestions, ideas, and constructive criticism.

THE FORGOTTEN MAGE (Part 1)

Start the quest by speaking to a guard stationed outside the castle in the walled city (map 2,-1 I think).

DIALOGUE:
GUARD- Halt! No one is permitted to enter the King's royal grounds at this time.
YOU- Please, I MUST see the King, it's urgent! I seek his guidance and advice.
GUARD- That's too bad. The King's daughter has disappeared. He's in no mood to entertain presently.
YOU- The Princess is missing?
GUARD- Are you deaf? Yes, she was discovered missing from her quarters this morning.
YOU- Well, maybe I could help in her search in exchange for the King's time.
GUARD- Hahaha!! You must be a FOOL! The King has his best men looking for her at this very moment. The King has no time for a boy looking to play hero. She'll be found within the day mark my words. Now get out of my sight or I'll have you arrested on the spot.

QUEST LOG: In order to see the King I must find the Princess.

In the northern part of the city is a trio of guards standing together. Click on them for a message to pop up saying: They have a strong aroma of ale eminating from them. They, obviously, are not doing anything to find the princess. If I wish to see the King I have to find her myself. I wonder if any on the townsfolfk know anything that will help me.
To the left of the guards is a woman standing outside a house, speak with her.

DIALOGUE:
YOU- Excuse me, ma'am, I am working with the King to find the princess. Do you have any information that could aid us in our search?
WOMAN- Oh my, the Princess is missing? That's terrible! Unfortunately, I have nothing to offer you.
YOY- That's quite alright. Thank you for your time.
WOMAN- Wait! I almost forgot, she has been spending a lot of time with the young boy across the street, but I'm sorry to say he's not home. He has been talking about visiting with his parents in Lord Silverwood's city. He was to leave this morning.
YOU- This morning....?
WOMAN- Yes, his name is Adam. I hope that helps. Good luck.
YOU- Thank you.

Head to Lord Silverwood's city. After entering the city head up the street a little way to find another woman standing near the street. Speak with her.

DIALOGUE:
YOU- Pardon me, but I am looking for the parents of a boy named Adam.
WOMAN- I am Adam's mother. What can I help you with?
YOU- Do you know where I may find him?
WOMAN- He arrived in the early hours of the morning with a very lovely young lady, but they left with my husband on his way to work a few hours ago. You can find him south of the entrance.
YOU- Thank you.

South of the city's gate is a man standing next to the path (close to where the path curves). Speak to him.

DIALOGUE:
MAN- May I help you?
YOU- Yes, I seek your son, Adam.
MAN- Ah yes, he left about an hour ago.
YOU- Do you know where he was headed?
MAN- Yes, he was heading south. They were seeking a powerful object that could stop an impending force that threatened to enslave our land. This object was said to be locayed in a pyramid. Sounded like a bunch of nonsense to me, but he wouldnt listen.
YOU- It is okay. I will go get him.
MAN- Thank you.

Head south to find a bandit and dark mage talking. Click on them to start the dialogue.

DIALOGUE:
BANDIT- ...I am aware of the risks involved, but we must let things settle down before moving the prisoners. We must...
MAGE- NO!! We WILL move them! TONIGHT!! If not we risk the chance of the King's idiots finding them.
BANDIT- Well then, why not just... HEY!! Who are you! What are you doing here!!
MAGE- Well, well, well. Look who it is. Ah, but that's right you don't even remember who i am do you? Hehehe.
YOU- Who are you!? What have you done eith the pruncess?
MAGE- Wouldn't you like to know. No, the real question is... who are YOU!
YOU- Enough with the mind games, Sorcerer. Give back the princess and you will be spared.
MAGE- HA! * TO BANDIT* Take care of this pest then return to me.

The mage disappears, leaving you to fight the bandit ( Stats: STR 25 ARM 25 DEX 23 HP ? XP 50,000). Once you defeat the bandit click on him again to open the next part of dialogue.

DIALOGUE:
BANDIT- Stop! No more, please. I'll tell you what you want to know.
YOU- Where is the princess?!
BANDIT- They are being held in a cave in the mountain range near the bandit's tower, but you won't be able to get in.
YOU- And why not?
BANDIT- You need a magical bracelet to enter. Good luck getting your hands on one.
YOU- Like the one on your wrist? Hand it over!
BANDIT- Over my dead body.
YOU- Agreed.

Fight the bandit again ( this time his stats are: STR 17 ARM 17 DEX 33). The XP you get from killing him the first time counts as your XP reward for quest. After killing him again he drops a "Portal Bracelet". When you get to the cave and try to enter a message pops up saying "The entrance has collapsed, but you get a strange feeling this wasn't an accident. Maybe the witch I helped get lion's fangs for." Now, go speak to the witch.

DIALOGUE:
YOU- Excuse me, I was wondering if you could help me clear a cave that has collapsed. It is not far from here.
WITCH- Unfortunately, I know of the cave in which you speak. And i cannot help.
YOU- Please, I'll pay you however much...
WITCH- *LOUDLY* ...ENOUGH!! Now, I said I WILL NOT help you. *WHISPERS* However, there is a blacksmith east of here who may be able to help. Now go, please. But be warned... what lies in that cave is not for the faint of heart. If you go inside there make sure you are well prepared.

Go speak with the blacksmith.

DIALOGUE:
BLACKSMITH- Greetings again, Adventurer!
YOU- Hello, I need help to clear a cave that has collapsed, and i heard you could help.
BLACKSMITH- Well, I have been working on a device I call "Dynamite", but i havent tested it yet. If you can get the materials I need from the mine I'll make you one.
YOU- I'll do it. What do you need?
BLACKSMITH- I need one "Black Powder", two "Rough Stones", and one "Iron Ore". You can get them from the scaffolds or by killing the orcs.
YOU- I'm on it.

Go into the mines and collect the raw materials then bring them back to the blacksmith who gives you one "Dynamite" (You can do this multiple times). Now with the dynamite in inventory enter the cave (once you enter the cave the dynamite can simply just disappear). Inside the cave is a portal with the portal bracelet equpped enter the portal. You spawn inside of a jail cell. In the cell is a door leading into a larger area with six pillars and the dark mage standing in the middle along with another door leading to a cell with the princess and Adam. When you try to leave the cell only the main charcter leaves. Speak to the mage.

DIALOGUE:
MAGE- You are a fool for coming here.
YOU- Enough of this. I offer you once more to surrender.
MAGE- You are in no place to be making demands. Do you not realize I can destroy with a stroke of my hand.
YOU- Then prove it.
MAGE- No... let's have some fun first.

After exiting the dialogue 15 orcs spawn. Speak with the mage after killing the orcs.

DIALOGUE:
YOU- Is that the best you have?
MAGE- Not by a long shot. I'm just getting warmed up.
PRINCESS- The pillars! They are the source of his powers. You must destroy them.
MAGE- Silence!
PRINCESS- I-I can't move!

Once you exit yhe dialogue a health bar appears on the first pillar.
Pillar 1 has 1,000 health. At half health 15 black knights spawned, followed by 15 dragons once it has no health.
Pillar 2 has 2,000 health. 15 ogres spawn at health. Then 15 bandit archers at zero health.
Pillar 3 has 4,000 health. At half health 15 dark dwarves. Then 15 mushroom monsters. Once defeared you regain control of the archer.
Pillar 4 has 8,000 health. 10 rainbow spiders at half health. Then 10 red dragons. Once defeated you regain control of the dark dwarf.
Pillar 5 has 16,000. 10 devils at half health. 10 green cyclopses at zero. Once defeated you reagin control of the rest of the characters.
Pilaar 6 has 50,000 health. 10 mummies spawn at 37,500 hp. 10 dark dwarces at half health. 10 red dragons at 12,500 hp. 2 red dragons, 5 bandit archers, and 3 red corpses at zero health.
Once you have defeated all the pillars speak to the mage.

DIALOGUE:
MAGE- I can't believe you defeated my defenses. I guess I'll have to take care of you myself.

Once you kill the mage ( who's stats are slightly lower than regular dark mages) he drops "Jail Key", "Black Magick Wand", "Magician's Robe", "Magician's Hat",and "Ring of Darkness".

STATS:
Black Magick Wand- MANA ?? STR ?? ARM ?? LEVEL ?? RANGE ??
Magician's Robe- MANA ?? ARM ?? LEVEL??
Magician's Hat-,MANA ?? ARM ?? LEVEL ??
Ring of Darkness- MANA ?? EFFECT- Makes the wearer invisible to enemies.

Use the jail key to free Adam and the princess then speak with them.

DIALOGUE:
PRINCESS- Oh, thank you so much!!
YOU- You are welcome. Now, are either of you hurt?
PRINCESS- No, but Adam doesn't remember who he is.
YOU- That's not good. We need to get him to his parents and fet you to your father.

Exit the cave using the portal you entered with. On yhe other side of the portal you discover Adam is missing. Speak with the princess.

DIALOGUE:
PRINCESS- Where is Adam?
YOU- I don't know, but we don't have time to look or him. Let's get you back to your father then I'll come back.
PRINCESS- Okay

Escort the princess back to where you started the quest, ans speak with the guard again.

DIALOGUE:
PRINCESS- I demand entrance!
GUARD- Right away, Princess.

Enter the castle and make yor way to the king on the top floor. Speak with the king.

DIALOGUE:
KING- WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!!
PRINCESS- Father, please, I can explain. Just give me a chance.
KING- I intend to...
PRINCESS- Adam came to me in the middle of the night. He explained that he spoke to a prophet who told him it was his destiny to go seek a powerful object that could help save the land from an impending doom. We went to his parent's house in Lord Silverwood's to prepare for the trek to the pyramid in which this object was said to reside. But on our way there we were ambushed by bandits and their leader. They tied us to a tree until a magician named Lazlo arrived...
KING- LAZLO!?! Oh, no!
PRINCESS- What's wrong?
KING- Continue.
PRINCESS- ...Lazlo and the bandit leader took us to a cave and threw us into a jail cell then left. A few hours later Lazlo came back shortly followed by this...Hero...who killed Lazlo and saved us.
KING- You didn't kill him.
YOU- I watched him die with my own two eyes.
KING- No, you only saw an illusion. Surely created by Lazlo himself. You see, back in time out of mind, Lazlo was a very fearsome wizard. Until a man figured out a way to strip Lazlo of his powers. I assume he has found. A way two regain them. In which case, we need to prepare. Chaos is sure to follow.
YOU- We have to do something.
KING- We will, but until then... How can I repay you?
YOU- Well, a few weeks ago I woke up in the forest with no recollection of who I am or how I got there...
KING- ...and you where eondering if I knew anything that could help you. I'm sorry to say I dont, but, please, take this for a reward. Also, there is a knight in the ground floor who will buy anything you wish to sell at top price.
YOU- Thank you.

REWARDS:
50,000 coins and the ability to sell anything to guard for top price.

It is a quest. Its just the first quest of a long line of quests that maps out a story. I have about 5 more (not as long as the first) written down but i didn't put them all on here yet because i didn't have time. But im gonna try to at least get the next one wrote down on here tonight, and even these ideas don't make it onto the game it's still a good read. If you have any ideas or suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Yep, I already had a story I started mapping out, but I haven't heard a 'yay' or 'nay' yet so I haven't moved forward with it.  :D  Thanks Ditto for directing me here!

@Milenko-

This looks like a great story too.  I do have a few questions though.

1. You titled it the forgotten mage.  Does this mean the story is for the 'mage' character, or for each character (like a Zelda game) ?

2. Like Ditto said above, this feels more like a step-by-step quest.  I noticed that you have it starting by taking a character to Lord Silverwood's area (which is usually for lvl20 and above - I say this loosely toward the brave lvl5s that venture there).  Is this intended to start in the higher levels, or was your aim initially to have it start at lvl 0 when the actual game/story starts?

Cheers! 8)

I misplaced it ... kinda like my brain. :P

I'll think of some non-obtrusive way to pass it along.  I know he's uber busy...
