The starting position for the lattice, which are denoted by the letters, is closed.
The starting position for the lattice, which are denoted by the letters with ', is opened.
Example: the switch A opens the lattice a, but closes the lattice a', and vice versa.

NPC - possible location of a wounded traveler who needs being rescued
