Re: I'm getting real tired of stupid complaints
I agree, Arashiko.
The workload is impressive. Players don't know we work for the game even when we are not online, writing documents, debating issues, moderating forum, answering message, creating contents, ...
Good manners are required when interacting each others. Too often players demand us doing something for them, instead of politely asking. Our chat is often so full we cannot read it all. Loosing temper and accusing us of not wanting to help, is an annoying behaviour. We help the ones doing so, nevertheless.
But if players would start often using "please" "thanks" and substituting "i need/i want" with "I'd like/I'd wish", that would help them, us, and the game mood in general.
Let me also quote Gandalf: GMs are there to enforce rules.
If anyone thinks MadMikael is not a good GM, then they have no idea of what they are talking about.

Yep. We help players where we can, not because we must, but because we want the game to be enjoyable fur everyone.ardesia wrote:

Interesting. Would you rather have no moderators at all? All moderators volunteer to do their job, to make the game better. This requires patience and the support of others in the game, not just the support of other GM in the teamArashiko wrote:toosh wrote: The game world will not end, everyone can be replaced. Its rough but true.
You misunderstood me. I mean that if Mikael is tired of "moderating" he should take break, surely the game will manage without him, although he is a great moderator. Like the Insider. When he left, many players were afraid whats will happen. Than Mikael has appeared and he has been a substitute for Insider, and I am convinced that when Mad leaves, someone will be able to replace him.
Ardesia, GM do great job here(forum) and in FT world. I think many players appreciate GM's work. But when i read Mikael post title: I'm getting real tired of stupid complaints(think it is not appropriate to write such things by GM) and i read like 1000 times how hard is GM life, how many work etc. i can say only: enjoy it or leave it. Do your job and dont complain because no one forces you to join/stay in GM team. If you've lost your joy, leave it, dont waste lifetime.ardesia wrote:I agree, Arashiko.

Re: I'm getting real tired of stupid complaints
I will admit, this post had a point, and that point is being realized. I chose angry words on purpose.
First, the forum is here so we can interact as a community, and here I was asking for community help.
Second, the forum is a place where we can share our ideas, and vent our frustrations. This I did as well.
Third, this is under off-topic, where just about anything may be discussed. I thought this was an important discussion to have, so I started it with a post that would likely get some attention. Had I been nice, most would not have even bothered to read it. That's a fact.
The story I shared above, was just the final one for a long day of trying patience.
My whole point was that, be patient, GMs are not as omnipotent or as infallible as some may think, and we could use a little help and consideration. They do a lot to help players, and yet, some seem to think we're at the mercy of their whims. If you need help, sure, we'll try to help you; but keep in mind there is a process to follow. I do my best to explain that as I can, within the limitations of the system.
As for me leaving, oh yes, it has been on my mind and has been discussed.
But the fact is, I feel needed here, so I am compelled to stay and work through my difficulties. When the most serious ones are dealt with, I'll reconsider again.
The GM team is working on several issues atm, and some of them are quite large. With the problems of real life strains, added with the game strains, it's a trying process that seems to be taking forever.
I don't think it's too much to ask for a little help.
Now, as for criticizing me, sure, go ahead. I knew when I typed this post that this would be so.
Everything I do is criticized; and usually, someone has something bad to say.
And since you brought up Insider, all I can say is, you're one of the few who actually supports him.
Yes, he did do a lot of helpful things. But he broke some very cardinal rules, and that is never forgiven or forgotten.
He put a blemish on the record of the GMs that is still thrown into our face up to this very day.

Re: I'm getting real tired of stupid complaints
Alls I've gotta say is while I don't always agree with gm decisions they're here to uphold the rules. Even if you don't always agree with their decision.
It could be worse; if you ask the same question multiple times a gm could kick/mute for spam. If you be spiteful and degrade them to do their jobs for not answering you instantly or not ruling in your favor (even without the use of cursing) they can punish you for offensive language / ruining game experience.
Also, any gm (or even player really) can stand afk for 24 hours straight anywhere and not break a single rule.
Read the rules carefully and try again.
I don't always agree with the team, lately it's been more often than not I don't. Heck at times they've made me want to be like aight well imma bend that freakin rule til it cracks all day e'rryday since they got away with it; but I eventually just get over it and go about my business.
Turnabout is fair play though if no rules have been deemed broken. Meow <3

Are you sure, that 13 year old kid understood why you are using "angry words"?MadMikael wrote:I will admit, this post had a point, and that point is being realized. I chose angry words on purpose.

Remember that you are writing from the account marked in blue, which as you read it belongs to GAME MASTER. This obliges you to maintain a certain level of expression.
I do not know what the Insider did but I know he helped the players like no one else at that time.MadMikael wrote:And since you brought up Insider, all I can say is, you're one of the few who actually supports him.

I did not say this in game, I said this here.
I did not mention my past dealings with this player, which gives me more insight.
Also, I did not mention the player's age... which I do know to be more than 13 by their admission.
I did not name names, I did not single anyone out. I left out details on purpose to not even suggest the identity of who it was.
As for my expression, I think I chose my words well enough to make my exact point.
You may think it unprofessional, yet I do not. We definitely disagree here.
At this point, you can keep arguing here, or you may report me to an admin if you like, claiming I'm not suited for my position.
I tend to choose my words carefully at all times, so I have nothing to hide, and I don't fear it either.
As for Insider, it's on the forum, if you look.
He did not leave per se, he was kicked from the team, and likely run off by a mob of angry players.

Re: I'm getting real tired of stupid complaints
Is there a period of time used by a GM in determining a player being A.F.K.?
If I am responding to a message sent from a friend via a PM, I am unable to see the game screen during that period. In which case, if a GM arrives as I am writing my message (a typist I am not
) , I have no way to know of their presence.
In fact, when I am in my backpack the same applies.
Perhaps a small window(split screen, PIP for example) when performing either of these activities would be very helpful.
I have been attacked during these moments too, unaware that a player has jumped me.
