I'll dive into the editor files later and see what I can find.LordSeth wrote:If any gm has a link to the (witch) skin please share it with me through pm. If it already has walking animations correct me if I'm wrong but all it will need is the attacking and dying animations then it can be applied to the server as a new skin and IG enemy witch will cover two often requests 1 a female mage skin can be added to the registering screen and 2 it can be set as a low enemy and can be collared and applied for a higher level enemy and being that the skin is already in the game it shouldn't take up much more space on the server. Just a thought.

Re: Need new beasts
My post was referring to the ones that were done BEFORE the matrix setup was applied, such as brown wolf and war dog. My question is this: can a matrix be applied in layers? If skin A is a matrix changed version of skin B, can a second filter be applied that uses the changed skin A as a base? If it DOES work, older sets such as brown wolf could be removed (reducing game size) while not losing any skins.MadMikael wrote:madmaniacal1 wrote:I just had a thought, but someone more experienced than me (Comp) will have to check. If a skin is modified, and then a second filter is added, or even a third, would they render? If so, we can remove the extra animations (such as war dog and brown wolf) and replace with a filtered version, and reduce the size of the app as a result. Since only comp can (legitimately) compile an app to test, perhaps he can answer this.
I'm not entirely sure what you're saying here... it sounds just like what was mentioned above.
Some skins already do work like this - the skin has a base skin, then the filter is added to change colours.
This is applied to (almost) all player skins, and several monster skins (but not all are done yet - that's what we're talking about).
But you're mentioning animations... so I'm confused....
The way the game is set up, you can't reduce the animations for a single skin.. but you can duplicate it and recolour it using the colour matrix.
For any interested in seeing which have been done (and which have not), the file you're looking for is in the map editor (not sure if it's available on forum).
The file is entities.list (simple text file), and it's found in the assets folder.
When looking at a skin, it can be "unique", or, it can refer to another skin, with a "matrix" option (followed by a bunch of numbers).
The idea to reduce app size discussed here is to take the similar ones that are not done this way, and recolour the primary one via colour matrix to achieve a result that is (almost) exactly the same as the existing unique skin.
I only went into detail because, if someone who's not sure about this wants to do it, they can.

Hmmm....
I think I understand...
in your example, skin B is the original
skin A is the first variation, with the matrix option
You're asking if a skin can be made from skin A, rather than skin B
I'm no expert in this area
but I think, since the matrix just fiddles with the colours, wouldn't it pretty much be the same?
you'd still have the same base skin (as in the wolf or dog), and changing the colours would have a similar effect
I think only the values of colour offsets would be different
I think, I'm still confused though
yes, the wolf skins are separate from the war dog skin
I don't understand why exactly - except as described as above, that no one has made a matrix to replace it
and I fail to see why a second layer is needed - why can't the skin be made directly from the brown wolf?
I get the impression, you know something here I do not

Re: Need new beasts
What I'm referring to is that some skins have been made from war dog, or brown wolf, which are variations of the original white wolf. If the brown wolf was replaced by a matrix derived from the white wolf, instead of its full animation set that already exists, would skins based off of the brown wolf still render?
Edit: now that I think of it, I likely should have led off with a simpler description of my idea. Lol

Ah ok... now I get it...
you're pointing out that we basically have "2 base skins" for the wolf
- that I understood
but you're asking if we could "quick fix" it, by just making one of the base skins a matrix variation of the other - and that it's derived skins would follow suit
hmmmm....
ok, you were right in your first post, only compbatant would know
if I had to guess - I'd say no
but, that's simply a guess

Maybe you've seen, maybe you haven't...
but I'm starting an image repository of map editor images.
These are taken from the editor, and made available so more players can edit them.
It can be found here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14594
Currently working on a request-only basis.
With your request of the witch, I found her, and added her.
Sadly, she's a static npc in the files.
HOWEVER
A great resource for the game is Reiner's Tilesets (google it). It's listed in the game credits too.
Free graphics - many of the game's original graphics come from there - including the witch.
Good news - there are the images of the animations for walking (talking is there too, but don't see how that applies here).
Bad news - the images are in a zip file - and they are all separated into frames. They would need to be compiled into the format the game uses.
Here is the zip - I'm not going to post it in the repository like this.
You can also find this file on the official site of Reiner's Tilesets.
- Spoiler: Show
