What level requirements would the players suggest for new armor and weapons? What is most commonly needed?
It must be slightly lower level. By this I mean under level 1000.
What level does the players think gear is needed for?
In answer to this, I'd like to suggest the following:
- A bow at levels 25 and 30. Going level 20-35 with one weapon is a little tough considering that most classes get another weapon at 20, 25, 30, and 35.
- An axe at level 25 for the same reason as above.
- Level 100 and 150 Robes. There's plate at those levels, and level 125, but only a 125 robe.
- Weapons at level 300. 250-350 is a long stretch with the same gear. It's a 40% increase in levels.
- Make the 350 gear fishable. If you want to exclude the plate/robe for the sake of the quests, that makes sense, but the weapons are drops and the pants and shield are one time chests. What to do if they get stolen? Improved availability would help that. Gear is supposed to be fishable up to 500, if I read correctly.
- Maybe weapons again at level 400. It went from a weapon every 25 to every 50, then suddenly 100, then 150 right after that.
- More hats (for mages) in general, especially at low levels. Yes, people use mana pots like crazy, but if you don't have a sponsor as a new player, you run out of gold pretty fast. Some other improved stats on those would help low levels as well. Here are some crazy numbers: Helm Levels: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 75, 85, 100. Now, the hat numbers: 0, 5, 10, 20, 30, 50,75, 100. Higher hat levels currently missing out: 250, 400.
- Boots for levels 150, 200, and 350 for mages/archers. There are melee boot upgrades, but none for archers/mages.
- Boots for level 250 for melee. The flip side of the above issue.
- Other weapons for level 125. Currently, there's just a wand.
- Axe, Bow, and Club for level 175. Currently, just a sword and wand.
- Maybe I'll get called crazy for these, but a 5k HP pot and 50 mana pot. Potions largely begin to run out of usefulness between 100 and 250 somewhere. Not because they're not useful, but because the margin of help gets pretty slim.
That's all I can come up with for now.
Edit: remembered one more thing. The game value of the 750 helmet needs to come back up. The cave with the chest causing the gold issue is level restricted now.
