Level Requirments

Game Help lists the leveling formula as:
XP to gain level L is calculated with L^3 times 15 XP until you reach level 150.
From level 150, the XP increases by a linear rate and you need (50m XP + 650k times n) XP to reach level (100+n)
Yet, I know that other classes require far less experience to reach the same level as me (mage). As a mage, I need ~70M XP to go from level 181 to level 182. I was under the impression that ALL characters leveled at the same rate (nothing in Help indicates otherwise).
A friend, who is a swordsman, says they need 124100K to advance from L294 to L295. Throwing 124100K into the above formula and solving for N:
50000000 + 650000N = 124100000
650000N = 74100000
N = 114
Now, I know that the formula actually starts at L151, so based on the required XP, you'd think this person was leveling to L265 (151 + N where N is 114). This is 30 levels UNDER the actual level!
Now, when comparing to my leveling requirements:
50000000 + 650000N = 70150000
650000N = 20150000
N = 31
So, this works fine for me. L151 + N (where N is 31) is L182.
I can only conclude that one (or more) of the following are true based on these calculations:
1) There is a calculation bug
2) Different character classes advance at different formulas (and formulas are not publicly posted)
3) The formula changes again once a higher level is obtained (again, not included in public documentation) for some(?) or all(?) classes
As a mage, I already receive less extra HP with each level advancement (+20 each leveling, compared to +100 for Ogres, etc). Everyone says that mages are the "most powerful". Yet, that power comes from mana. And, given the leveling situation, mages are at a disadvantage since it takes longer for them to level (thus longer to acquire skill points to assign to mana).
Can someone please explain what's happening???
