If a player clicks ok to the rules before logging in and they don't read the rules then that is on them and they deserve punishment for breaking the rules whatever the punishment will be

yes, I'm purposely being kind of a jerk here, I'm just so tired of people acting like it was OK to violate that rule for the last 5 years just because it wasn't strictly enforced - it has ALWAYS been a rule of FT, and frankly, of pretty much all mmorpgs since they first were created.

Next time someone gets pulled over by the police for greatly exceeding the speed limit they should tell the officer that they know where to look for the speed limit signs, but they choose not to learn any of the road rules by choice.

The point is Sharing accounts is against rules that's true but permanently jail for first time offenders does seem harsh to me at least. For repeat offenders it does seem logical and they do deserve permanent jail.
Anyways i am happy that people have stopped sharing accounts. it was a big problem earlier and was definitely a form of abuse.

No of course the officer doesn't jail you for life for speeding. At least not where I live, maybe in other countries.

There are however at least two countries where drinking and driving only happens once if you are caught, Because you get the death penalty.

Now I like what you are trying to say about too harsh, but consider this. For 5 years the rule was there, not enforced. There was not a huge uproar about how it's not being enforced.

Then one day it came out. "As of this day sharing means permanent jail - no exceptions"

No, of course an officer would not permanently jail someone for speeding alone, and I never said it was a comparable comparison, but that's not the point. The point is that ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Swap out speeding with something like arson or murder if you want something more severe, then stand there and tell the officer you didn't bother checking if it was ok.

There's a language issue? Go to a foreign country and commit a crime and tell them you should be excused.

Or say a guy comes into a hospital for some kind of treatment on his arm, and afterwards he's in the recovery room and says his foot hurts. You go in and check his arm only because you don't want to spend more time with the guy, and since the arm looks fine you discharge him. Later in the day he's back in the hospital with major leg issues that could have been prevented earlier in the day. You had tools and tests available and chose not to use them, so that comes back to you.

I can make up all kinds of scenarios, but what it comes down to is: rules say sharing is bad, everyone has access to the rules, not looking at the rules or claiming ignorance is no excuse.

U are not getting my point. I am always against sharing accounts and i agree they have to be punished. And claiming ignorance doesn't make it ok. I also agree to that. I am just not in favour of permanent jailing for 1st time offenders. I support a temporary jail for them and a permanent jailing for 2nd time or repeat offenders.
Just as they do in autoclicking or other offences. To me autoclicking seems a very severe offence. people have gained thousands of levels by autoclicking afk and also have gotten thousands of levels by sharing too. Both are equally severe offences. Both should ve punished equally.

I agree 100% - I think that punishments should be much, much more harsh for most types of rule violations
