Sadly with the GM team being diminished to basically 1 GM that list has virtually gotten way longer then what it is now as many are taking advantage of this situation and state Ft is in right now and who knows how long the game will be in this state i just hope the next update isn't oriented solely on fattening his wallet but an update that fixes some of the bugs used by these cheats

I think you are beating a dead horse here.
  1. The game had name change once ...
    1. and it was controlled by compbatant and administrators
  2. people abused it ...
  3. we lost the right!
I'll fight for what I think is right!

Personally, I am TOTALLY AGAINST name changing.

The name of a character is the only info players can rely on in order to know who they are playing with.

Change the name of a character, and you totally wipe previous history/reputation away.
Scammers, character traders, rule abusers of any kind would start asking for the name change or - even worse - buying name-change-tokens if such an item ever were to be set up for purchase.

It would negatively affect gameplay experience for everyone but abusers.

I've been playing a game where a "name change scroll" was in shop. Everyone was continuosly changing name, creating so confusing a situation. It is one of the main reasons I left that game.

@ vasinta

My mind is playing a broken record over your last four words.

Very well said, and from experience too.

EDIT: of this statement:

On that note if name changes were strictly requested on the forum for purchase sent from compbatant.

(Example) SNALE wants to purchase a name change, change name to SLUG.

See back in the day FT didn't have near as much players and the odds of keeping a name change secret would depend on your reputation. If you stayed alone and grinded no clans no PvP your secret wouldn't be known but if you were in a clan known for PvP and the way you typed your preferred location and your level would give it away.
Now days there is so many players really too many to keep up with. If name changes become available they should be public on forum imo. Pluss that would kinda eliminate the desire for a name change for abusing players.

I think a name change should only be an option up to a certain level after a player has had ample time to decide whether the game is something he wants to continue. At level 30 a player gets first skill so I would suggest a level 40 cap on changing. This way a player who typed a random ABC or 123 name can give a name with some character or just thought better of what he had called himself .

On an off subject new names would disguise an identity of a player but right now we have special skins that hide the class of a player which might make a difference in pvp if the players name is not familiar.

I think a level cap for name changes would make sense if there weren't issues with scamming, but there seem to be too many scams involving very low level (i.e., throwaway account) players. Someone might not want to get their main account in trouble so they leave an alt at spawn to do the dirty work. (It's always a bit suspicious when a low level player is selling pets/skins or high level items I think.)

exactly why it should NOT be allowed.

If you are a "low level" say by the time you get to lvl 10 or 15 and you realize you do not like "BadName", create a new account "NiceName" and keep "BadName" as a storage alt or abandon it, giving everything BadName has to NiceName first.

To easy.

Above two posts make much sense... those blasted scammers ruin everything. I withdraw my suggestion.
