For skins does the size of the character change for interactions, or just the appearance?

I'd say it affects both. The character size is smaller (appearance) and SK gives an excellent example above how this can affect interactions.

there are skins that should be in normal skins like: crocs, monsters, stans, and some more. look out for them! they aren't premium!

The same could be said for ghosts, bees, spiders, etc.

As a player with a Freya though I share the problem of lack of
options that "look" female, I think this is the substance of the
complaint/suggestion.

It really depends on what you like. There is several skins that can be used for both male or female. Unfortunately we don't have any with a flower band or a pink hair tie or a pretty dress but there is a selection that many players can choose from yes it's not exactly what some players want but it is all we have for now.
Maybe soon more skins will come. All we can do is wait.
