If you wait until 2k to open the coffin you can get a 2k+2 weapon without all of that piece of ancient weapon stuff.

i thought the weapon was based on level of demon killed. or was at one time. it wouldnt seem right for a 150 player to aquire a 2k weapon later for killing a lvl200 mob..and the weapon isnt always a +. my 150 ogre got a normal 200 club.

My understanding is you get a weapon the next level up. If you are 2k there wasn't a next level up at the time so yo uh get a +2 weapon. I'll search later, but lunch is over...

I think I obtained the key and possibly holy water whenever the ardesia quests were released, but then didn't look at that quest again until I got to 2k.

I *knew* then that it (a) would be easier and (b) I would be guaranteed the 2k+2 weapon.

This was just my preferred strategy. Lk has mentioned above the crucial part of the quest line for the 2k+2 weapon.

but u didnt fight the demon until over 2k right? im pretty sure the demon level determines the weapon level, not your level when you open the chest

Yes - you're right lestat and I wasn't very clear tbh.

As I was 2k then it was far easier navigating the dungeons and the enemies than it would have been if I was, say, 500.

However, the demon was exactly as you say.

The white coffin gives you a weapon the next level up based on your level when you open it, not your level when you killed the demon!

I've freed the ghost five times and muffed it every time getting a regular weapon instead of waiting for a plus!!
