H-I am trying to diminish the sea worm populations here and earn a living gathering the rare pearls!

H- Wait! My best harpoon is weakened could you take it to the blacksmith up above and get it upgraded?
That sounds like an easy task
H- Well yes and no. To repair it requires ore not available here on this island or in these caverns, but the blacksmith is good at fixing things.
So what is my reward for such a venture?
H- I have done well here gathering pearls. Return unto me and I will reward you with gold! Deal?

On return with harpoon
H-Ah there you are excellent timing!
You didn’t tell me that your harpoon was trash and I would have to buy a new harpoon!
H- Oh really seemed still useable to me…oh well thank you and here is your reward.

Level Two Harpoonist
H- Oh hello there again traveler! My harpoon you fixed…ah er..does not kill these worms on this level very easily. Could I ask of you another favor?
Yea what this time
H- Take this harpoon and get it upgraded please?

H-Better reward as this repair requires more valuable ore to strengthen it.

Level 3-6 Harpoonist
Wait, don’t tell me your harpoon needs upgrading again?
H- Why yes you will be both rich and wise!

H- The blacksmith will tell you what you need

An item will need to be made a “damaged harpoon” that the blacksmith can reject.
Upon each delivery of “enhanced harpoon” a gold amount is rendered. Perhaps a pearl needed for that level sentinel might be included as a bonus.

City Level 1 NPC Quest Dialogue

Ghost I- The Pearleans of old cry out for justice! Sebastius imprisoned the inhabitants within this caved city by a powerful magic. We can only be free and you can only continue your quest here by activating the stone sentinels in each level of our world. Find the sentinel! Deactivate his magic by placing the right pearls upon him. If you succeed our spirits imprisoned here to wander these caves will be free and you shall gain a great reward!

The Historian-
H- Hello fellow explorer! Oh how exciting to adventure here!
Who are you?
H- I am a historian from Ardesia and long have I desired to visit this place.
You don’t look like you are prepared very well
H- True, I could use a weapon of some sort

H- Could you get me a level 1 harpoon so I can fight off these worms while I search for artifacts?
I guess so, I’d hate to see you die
H- Wonderful! And while I circled the island I found an area I am sure would yield an artifact. Could you look for me I cannot leave my research here.

City Level 2 NPC Quest Dialogue

The Monk-
M-I came seeking the ancient wisdom of the Pearleans and have found many writings. Their language is quite unlike ours on the mainland and is a most difficult task to decipher it.
Well good luck with that…
M-Wait, I am but a poor monk and not very strong to traverse these caves. It is safe enough right here but I need a cypher from a monk living in a cave up above.
So I’m your messenger I suppose
M- Oh please, he is a bit odd and may not trust you at first. Here show him this ring and he will know I have sent you.
Well, I don’t know…alright give me the ring then
M- Wonderful! Thank you! Here it is

Visiting the hermit up on island level
If not visited prior to this
H- Who goes there another one of those bothersome vacationers….leave me in peace!
Wait, I met a monk friend of yours below and he needs your help
H- A trick, that’s what you are playing on me! You probably beat him up and have come to pillage my cave here!
No…nothing like that…I bring this ring as proof I am telling the truth!
H- Oh no…you’ve killed him…poor soul…oh his work cut off so quickly…oh oh oh
No he sent me with this ring to prove I know him and to ask you for his cypher so he can do his work translating rare Pearlean writings he has found!
H- Oh why didn’t you say that in the first place! Here is the cypher and be gone!

H- Oh hi there again did you find my friend below?
Yes I did and he sent me here with this ring to prove he sent me. He is doing great.
H- Oh thank you! Yes he doesn’t have many personal possessions as a monk but he would not have given it to you unless something very important is going on.
Yes he wanted me to get his cypher from you bring it to him
H- Kind of you friend to help here is the cypher.
Upon return to monk appropriate thanks and gift of ring as reward

The Crazed Lovesick Minstrel
M-I came to this isle hoping to learn of love that I might pen a love song to woo my fair lady that was never before heard! The Pearleans were indeed passionate in such matters, but with these sea worms and ghosts I see wandering about to either chase me or scare me I have lost my instrument and my song!
Ah…well..er that is to say…
M-Oh please find them or I will die here with love unsung!
You are in a bad state. Where do you think they were lost?
M- Alas while on the surface I fear my song composition has been carried by the wind into the mountains! My harp fell free in these caves as I ran to preserve my life!
Very well relax I will look for your song and harp…is she beautiful this love of yours?
M- Why very beautiful….why do you ask?

City Level 5 NPC Quest Dialogue

Ghost III-
G- You know of our plight. There are 4 mystic pearls that are the keeper of the happy memories of our people. To hold them brings back all the good we have known and are a great comfort to us. Yet one of those harpooning fools have taken them. We know they are still on or below this island. Please find these and restore them to us!
I will do my best. I think I know who may know about them.

Hello again maybe I can assist you in finding your lost mystic pearls
N- What? Oh you would help me find my mystic pearls? I have searched for them but have not found any.
Well do you have any idea where I can begin to look?
N- I am pretty sure I lost one below and three here in these mountains.
Ok, and these pearls belong to you only
N- Why yes, what have you heard?
Oh nothing some ghost mumbled something
N- Can’t trust a ghost! If you find them please give them to me and I will give you a fabulous reward!

Devil Guarding Sentinel
Oh I didn’t expect to see anyone here!
D- We know all about you and do not like you messing with the captive souls here. You cannot pass.
What are these ghosts to you, how long have you been here?
D- Longer than I can remember but we all have our duties to do
Do I sense a bit of weariness… are you sure there is nothing I can do to allow me to pass?
D- Perhaps souls for souls
No I didn’t mean my soul in exchange!
D- You will certainly fail but still…if you bring me 10 soul ingots I will let you pass. You have no chance of getting past my superior below so it will be our pact you and me.
I will return with your ingots
D- I will assist you to cross the lava river back. (teleport back to opposite side of lava)
Upon return allowance to pass and experience for convincing a devil to change his mind.

Bridge Dialogue
?-You come to an impassable river of lava. Across you can see what appears to be a structure of some sort. There is no way to get across. Perhaps the mage nearby can offer a suggestion.
Mage NPC-
M- I suppose you want to get across. There is nothing but death on the other side so turn back now.
I’ve come this far isn’t there any way across?
M- If you insist I can teleport you across but it is a one way trip and expensive.
I don’t care…I can’t turn back now!
M- Very well, bring me a rat tail and bat wing and I will teleport you to the other side.
Upon return teleport to opposite side with a devil blocking the way
Upon return with soul ingots
M- I see you have managed to survive, I am impressed. I will teleport you for free this time.

City Level 7 NPC Quest Dialogue

The Final Devil
D- You are nearing completion of your task, we are not pleased!
Certainly some agreement can be reached?
D- Perhaps, perhaps. Sebastius set us in place to guard here. But we have been here long and grow weary of this.
Then you will honor my request to pass?
D-Not so quick little one, Sebastius has been remiss and we have not seen or heard of him for very long. If I were to yield to your request you will have to pay me what Sebastius promised to me the next time I would see him. Are you prepared for such a payment?
Tell me what it is and I will pay you it gladly!
D- Very well bring these two things to adorn me, a devils hood and a devils helm.
That will be very hard but I will return as soon as I can
Upon Return with the items
Here are the items you required
D- Very well…now you can pass. The final sentinel awaits you. If you succeed and do this we will leave and the curse will be broken.
Upon the final sentinel done a ghost appears:
G- You have done it! We are free! Our souls will no longer wander these caves but have been put to rest. Thank you traveler you have done what others attempted but always failed to do. The whole of the Pearlean peoples honor you and give you this reward. (suitable amount of levels and item/gold)

Bridge Dialogue
?-You come to a doorway to a labyrinth before you. There does not appear to be any keyhole or obvious way to gain entrance. There is an ogre nearby perhaps he can aid you.
Ogre-
O- You can beat on that door till doomsday but it will never open.
I see that! Is there a secret word to speak or something?
O- If there were do you expect I would tell you?
Oh no not a wise and magnificent Ogre like you..
O- Flattery will get you everywhere! Ha ha ha. But flattery isn’t very good payment.
Oh name your price and I will do my best to meet it.
O- Aha flattery and bribery…you are destined to go far. Very well this is what I require to open this door for you. Bring me 2 crocy hides and 2 minotaur hides I need some new tough leather clothing.
Great oh noble one I will be back soon with your bribe, I mean payment for passage.
O- And make it quick you are as slick as a sea worm’s skin!
Upon return and payment the door is now open.

The Crazed NPC
C- Go back, go back or be entrapped here like me forever!

After the final sentinel you must walk back to the city level exit and pass this NPC again
C-Oh I’m free…my mind is clear again…oh thank you! A million thanks!

C- yes…yes…I have almost forgot (breaks down in joyful tears)
