The key (which I think should be called Ashdown key) cannot be transferred between characters. I tested earlier.
It's listed as non transferable, but no harm in checking.

If we had the one key ring to rule them all we wouldn't have to worry about losing keys... assuming you can't lose the whole key ring!
I threw this in here because it still is a great idea if it could be implemented. As it is now a player without a house has to fill either the tavern or bank storage just with keys !
