I recently heard about new armor and weaponry in the game. Is this true or just an illusion?

Exactly this. If not being announced yet then it means some informations should be given when it has been released. Unlike new maps and quest when they are up and rolling. Informations intended to complete one or more quests must not be disseminated by the person or persons who created the map.
Adventures should be discovered in a natural way, ie when normal players have played the map after a long time and become widely known.
