In accordance with the 13 year anniversary of Forgotten Tales I have a story to share! Normally I release stories a bit at a time over a number of days but this time I will post the whole story at once in parts. So here is the first part, the introduction to where we are going.
Introduction:
One thing that must be asserted at the beginning is that forgotten tales has been subject to fractures in time. We see glimpses through the life of our Hero (which we get to play!). Much to the beginning of the game is the quest to get back to the proper time and as we do we become heroes taking care of the threat of the artifact all the way up to defeating BalMuen the last defense against returning to the proper time and sanity. But one character has eluded our grasp, Ascanius’ wayward pupil, Sebastius. Doing the Weisstein quest we are given hints at what his eventual defeat will look like with the appearance of the silver sword and the death of Ascanius in the process of gaining victory. But such visions are not sure. The fracturing of time has made it one of many possible scenarios from complete victory over evil to a deep impenetrable darkness forever holding FT in its grasp. This story is but one scenario possible that might see the former achieved, namely Sebastius’ final defeat! So put yourself into the story as the hero and follow along as it is written as if it were a FT Questline in the game. We title this story with a ?, which shall be revealed, but for now let us propose without an evil opponent like Sebastius the game and story would be rather dull. So though this is about Sebastius’ fall from power it is not about the total triumph of good over evil but just another skirmish in that unending reality. I hope you enjoy the read, and it may be your fracture in time sees a different scenario, and that is fine as once time has been so disturbed no telling what avenues are produced.

Re: Sebastius Demise?
Part 1- The Beginnings
We begin our story in a very normal way, our hero simply going about one of the mundane tasks found in FT and on his way passes by someone digging graves at Lake Town in the old cemetery there. Let us pick up the conversation (quest). Keep in mind most of these discussions are as if you were discovering an NPC with a ?over his head and getting a task to do, and from many tasks yields a story, and from that story a final end we seek to achieve. Be brave Hero and do not back off from the task before you or its cost as FT is again depending on YOU oh Mighty Hero of the realm!
The Grave digger quest
Gd-grave digger p-player
p- How goes the digging?
Gd- Smelly and slimy!
p-Oh, no items found?
Gd-nothing I can use
p- Well good luck…
gd- Wait, I did find something I am sure is very rare and valuable
p-oh..really?
gd- Oh you doubt me?
p- Well not exactly but usually rare items are from quests
gd- What do you think this is a mere chat?
P-Ha ha…you make a good point. Tell on.
Gd- Anyhow I dug up a scroll!
p- What is it about?
Gd- That’s the problem, whenever I try to untie it’s strap to unroll it, it gets blazing hot! But it doesn’t affect the scroll.
p-Wow! Protected by magic!
Gd- Yes, only a mage could break the spell. I might be convinced to let you have it.
P- And what do you require?
Gd- How about 50m gold?
p- For a scroll I can’t unroll?
Gd- and for the location of a mage who could break the spell!
p- Deal! And the location?
Gd- He is up on fairy island, he will help.
You pay the gravedigger his 50M and watch him to see if he has a greedy smile on his face. Satisfied he is sincere you begin the travel north to the dangerous fairy island. You notice in your quest book the new quest “Look for the lonely mage on Fairy Island to break the spell!” Feeling a rush of excitement you head there and crossing the bridge hug the western shoreline until at the top of the island you see our mage by the magic of the FT world somehow awaiting your arrival with a ? planted over his head! What an awesome and magical game!
Mage Spell Breaking Quest
m-the lonely mage p-player
m- Hello there planeswalker!
P- Hello again, how goes the astral research?
m- You have a good memory; very well indeed, many fine discoveries. You helped me, I sense now you need my help?
p- Yes, I have a spell needing breaking
m-Aha, my specialty! Let me see it
p- It was dug out of a grave
m- Oh, that is a problem then
P- Oh how?
m- There are two spells then upon it, one magical, the other spiritual, you have disturbed a grave and the spirit is angry!
p- Well, I didn’t, a grave digger did, I just bought the scroll.
m- It does not matter, you possess it, and you must appease the spirit!
p- Oh boy, what must I do?
m-I will help you, we must make a feast prepared to honor him, then he will release his hold upon the scroll. I will provide the ale to toast him but you must bring the rest. Bring me 5 cooked meat, 5 loaves of bread, and 5 rare fish.
(New Quest-Bring the mage 5 cooked meat, 5 loaves of bread, and 5 rare fish for the spirit feast.)
After chasing rabbits, and realizing you didn’t have a scythe and were skill ‘0’ in cutting wheat, and fishing at 0.0 for way too long, you finally return.
p- Here they are.
m- Now, follow me and do as I do. “Oh noble spirit we offer this feast in your honor. We lift up the meat.” (both lift up a hunk of meat) “we lift up the bread” (both lift up a loaf) “we lift up the fish” (both lift up some cooked fish) “and we drink a toast to you noble spirit” (both lift up a cup and down it)
p- That’s it?
m- Yes, I believe so, yes the curse has left. Now for the spell, but before I do, though I am in your debt for our last encounter, I will require some small payment.
p- Very well, what can I help you with?
m- I need to fashion a new robe for myself, this old thing is getting tattered. Bring me a 75 robe and a 200 robe; I can combine them by magic into an astral infused super robe for my astral journeys!
(New Quest-Bring the mage a 75 robe and a 200 robe so he can make a new astral infused robe)
That 75 robe was tricky having to wait for the quarter hour mage to appear and finally dropping forest robes to craft it, frustrated you return to 0.0 to buy a 200 robe. Oh well….
p- Here they are…now about the scroll?
m- Yes, I will free it. “Binding fire, flaming spell be gone! Be cooled, be now well. Burning touch of ember glow, I command you now to go!”
p- Its cool, you’ve done it! Now to open it!
m- Let me see perhaps I can read it for you. No, it is beyond me. I suggest you go see Ascanius he is wise about such things.
p- Thank you! I will.
You read in your quest book “Go ask Ascanius about the scroll.” That is a pleasant journey as Ascanius is a good friend and mentor and one voice of sanity and one force for good in the land. Reaching his home near the ogre dungeon you see him waving at you glad to see you again!
Ascanius and the scroll
as-Ascanius p-player
as- Hi there, good to see you haven’t forgotten your old friend!
p- Never!
As- Ah but I can see on your face you have something important to ask me.
P- Clever as ever, yes my friend I have found an old scroll.
As- Aha, let me see it….Oh yes this is very old indeed. Oh I wish I had paid better attention in Mage School, this is written in the ancient tongue of FT.
p- I ought to tell you that it was enchanted with a spell.
As- Oh, then it must have an important message. You say was enchanted?
p- Yes the mage at Fairy Island removed it.
As- Oh…”Astral” as we used to call him. Always preoccupied with it, but you were wise to get him to break the spell, that is one thing he is good at. I’m afraid I cannot enlighten you too much about the scroll.
p- Oh…so we are at a dead end, appropriate since it came out of a grave!
As- A what? You didn’t mention that! Where at?
p- The old cemetery by Lake Village.
As- Oh, that explains it…
p- What?
As- It has to do with time, that is the oldest cemetery.
p- Yes go on!
As- As you know this land has been beset by twists in time, you yourself have experienced this. Until the Silver Sword is found, which I have searched diligently for, these time distortions will never be closed.
P- I am afraid you’ve lost me.
As- Sometimes yesterday’s heroes or victims from the dawn of FT appear in form today. Not alive of course for you cannot change their timeline they have lived and died, but sometimes their remains might be found out of time. They should be corrupted and gone but they appear as if they had just perished.
p- So the grave this old scroll came from might be from another time appearing only briefly in our time?
As- Exactly, and their remains and what they were buried with might be available now. Undoubtedly this scroll is such a twist in time; otherwise it would have already crumbled to dust.
p- Is that important?
As- Is that important? Yes, in fact it might be the key to unlock what is bound! Do you remember Vitus Lector?
p-Yes, the guy up to his eye balls in scrolls who helped with the artifact.
As- You must go see him again. If I am right there are many forces at work and this scroll might be the start of a transformation.
p- Wow! I will go right away.
As- And return to me I must know what this scroll says!
Again checking your quest book you see the new quest “Go see Vitus Lector on his island to see if he can read the scroll.” You think hmph! Vitus’ island my foot! That island belongs to witch! Anyhow thank goodness for the stable with transports! You ride the dragon to the Kraken Island chain and head north seeing your old friend the sailor and get a trip across to the island. You recall Vitus is a bit of an odd one and prepare yourself for an equally odd conversation.

Re: Sebastius Demise?
Part 2- The Scroll
Vitus Lector scroll reading
v- Vitus Lector p- player
p- Hello Vitus, remember me?
v- Hmm….artifact?
p- Why yes!
v- Everyone who ever visits me asks about that artifact! Look at my arti-face, do I look pleased?
p- Sorry….but this is far different, rare and never before seen! And you Mr Vitus Lector have the honor of unveiling its secrets!
v- Oh….well…sorry…let me see that! This is very old, from the early days of this realm. Was it sealed with a spell?
p- Yes it was, and a spirit curse on it.
v- Excellent! This should be outstanding! It had to be from a very notable person. (He begins to read the scroll to himself mumbling and smiling and looking like he is ready to jump out of his skin!)
p- What is it about?
v- Tut tut, quiet!
p- I mean is it about the…
v- SILENCE!!
p- Yes Mr Lector, sorry Mr Lector
v- The writing is a riddle, but this small drawing is very interesting….yes, quite revealing…don’t you think so?
p- Oh dear!!
v- Now, now, don’t let your limited intelligence bother you…
P-Limited!?!
v- You do have a loud voice, another proof of smallness, now stop squirming and listen. Isn’t that why you came to me?
p- (sigh) Yes Mr Lector, I am listening.
v- Here is the riddle “ When that which is shattered is whole, the whole will be shattered. When the silver shimmers are seen, what once was will have been.”
p- Um…maybe I am limited…and that means?
v- It is obviously a prophecy about the Silver Sword! It reveals something even Ascanius could not know, the sword has been broken into pieces. But, when they are reformed together it will affect the entire hold of evil on FT and time will right itself!
p- Oh I must get to Ascanius!
v- Wait, these symbols are more important. (showing you the scroll unrolled) See this sword drawing and the 4 symbols about the sword. It means it is in 4 pieces and the pictures tell us where the 4 pieces may be found!
P- That is more than I had hoped. What are these 4 places?
v- Well you know nobody appreciates me here, telling player after player about the artifact is really getting old! They never give me anything! If you want me to divulge what the 4 symbols mean I want some compensation!
p- Very well, what would please you?
v- How about 4 items for 4 clues? I like shooting fish in the shallows here, how about a 100 bow. I could use 5 meteor stones to line my oven in my hut.
p- That 5 meteors is more than 4!
v- A mere technicality…you want my help or not? And I need a 75 iron plate my old one is horribly rusted from the sea air, and finally a 200 mana potion to recharge my robe!
(New Quest-Bring Vitus Lector a 100 bow, 5 meteor stones, a 75 iron plate, and a 200 mana potion in exchange for the 4 sword clues.)
After dispatching an innumerable amount of ghost archers you finally drop the bow, and after 4 fails you finally craft the iron plate but thankfully in getting the iron you got the 5 meteors, and in spite of the excitement it takes 3 days to get the mage at Aetor to sell a 200 mana potion! Back you go to “witch” island!
p- here you go
v- Excellent! Thank you! Now the locations. One, the underground village
v- Two, the dragon dungeon
v- Three, the dungeon of doom altar dungeon
v- And Four, Devil’s Island house
p- Wow, these are large areas to search
v- I believe a search for a helper in each area will now be found. The scroll has been unsealed and read, so all is in motion to find the Silver Sword!
p- Anything else I should know?
v- Only this, these locations may or may not have a piece of the sword but might only provide a further clue, I cannot be sure. Now, go to Ascanius, he will want to know about the Silver Sword!
p- Great! Thanks!
Excited about the scroll contents you rush to find Ascanius, the quest book reminds you, but you really don’t need to be told, it says “Go tell Ascanius about the silver sword and clues to its location.” You think, perhaps still under the influence of Vitus’ personality, “of course what else would I do?” Yet obedient to the quest you are wondering what the next steps might be. Let’s face it, you are hooked now and are committed to finding out where this all leads.
Ascanius advice to find the Silver Sword
As-Ascanius p-player
As- Oh there you are, tell me all about the scroll!
p- It is about the Silver Sword!
As- I sensed it was important, and?
p- Vitus believes the scroll tells in a riddle form that the sword was broken up into pieces.
As- Ah, that would explain my failure to find it.
p- But it could be reformed again.
As- Yes it is possible, but where to look for a piece and how to find it?
p- The scroll had a picture and Vitus believes foretells 4 places to search and 4 pieces to find.
As- Hmm….perhaps so, perhaps not.
p- What do you mean?
As- It seems to me a scroll of such importance protected by both a magic spell and a curse would not be so obvious telling where the pieces of the sword are.
p- Vitus did say he wasn’t sure if it was the pieces or perhaps another clue.
As- Yes I have to agree. What were the four places?
p- The underground village, dragon dungeon, dungeon of doom interior dungeon by the altar, and the Devil’s Island big house.
As- This is what I think, you should go to the underground village first. There is a very wise historian living on the second level who may have been afraid to tell me the sword was broken. If he knows about the scroll he may tell us what he was hiding. Yes go see him!
p- Okay onward I go!
It has been awhile since you visited the underground village and don’t know what historian Ascanius is referring to. The only guy who talks anymore is the grouchy mage by the portal. You think the thought “outside of Ascanius it seems all other mages in the game are grouchy or greedy but usually both!” You smile a bit, glad for what the mages give but disdaining their personalities! The quest reads “Find the wise historian under the underground village and tell him about the scroll.” Heading downward you sidestep some elder trappers and see a ?over the head of the guy ages ago you gave a +3 fishing rod to. He must be the historian.
Underground Village Quest
h- Historian p- player
p- Hello there!
h- Oh hi, you once brought me this wondrous fishing pole didn’t you?
p- Yep, that’s me;hey can I ask you a question?
H- Sure
p- I understand you are an FT Historian
h- Hush!!...who told you that?
P- Ascanius
h- Oh, that is okay then, please I live a peaceful life here and these trappers leave me alone so tell no one!
p- Promise, now I must ask you about the Silver Sword.
h- Oh that is easy, it is lost!
p- But we found a scroll that indicates the Silver Sword was broken up into 4 pieces and is held in 4 places.
h- Interesting….
p- And I suspect you have a piece yourself!
h- Do you? And there Ascanius’ friend you are wrong!
p- Please, all of FT waits for the Silver Sword to vanquish Sebastius!
h- Hush…..do you want to be killed? We don’t talk about him, and I don’t have a piece of that sword! But I do have some information that may aid you.
p- Oh please tell me!
h- I never get up to the land above so I want something in return for my help.
p- Very well, what do you need?
h- I understand now there is a meteorite fishing pole.
p- But that is beyond me and too expensive to buy, certainly something else you want?
h- Let me think….how about a scythe and 5 bags of seeds, I think I know of a place I can grow wheat here, and to make the ground here more fertile 10 shovels of dug grave dirt ought to do.
p- Done, I’ll return soon!
Well that is an odd request you think, never mind it’s going to be this way all the way through.
(New Quest-Bring the historian a scythe, 5 bags of seeds, and 10 piles of grave dirt.)
The scythe was easy enough and the seeds but not having a shovel you have to conquer the maze. Next time I’ll just ask a friend for help!
p- Here you go, now the information please?
h- Nice, thank you! That scythe is nice and sharp too! Now listen, I do know something about how the Silver Sword was crafted.
p- How will that help?
h- You see those pieces have been lost for so long no one knows where they are or even if they have perhaps been destroyed.
p- Oh no!!
h- Do not panic, all is not lost! It may be you can recraft a new Silver Sword! I can help you with the knowledge of what you must seek to find, but who that can craft such a thing I do not know. But first things first.
p- That is a relief, what is needed?
h- First, what is quite obvious a Silver Sword requires silver to make it.
p- Wait, we don’t have silver here, couldn’t mithril or platinum work?
h- No silver only as it is the metal that has always been used against evil or the undead.
p- Okay, where?
h- There is a source, but we will get to that later. The second thing needed is silver dragon scales, and before you say there isn’t a silver dragon…there once was and yes scales still exist. Third, magic potions but not the ordinary but specially enhanced, and fourth, to restore the soul of FT specially enhanced soul stones. A blacksmith who knows the ancient arts should be able to craft it all together.
p- Wow, and where can I find these, the scroll said here, the dragon dungeon, dungeon of doom, and Devil ’s Island.
h- Yes search there. Look for old ones or historians like me who may know where to look in their own realm for their ingredients..
p- Great advice, now can you tell me where to find this silver?
h- Of course, but first I probably could use 5 more bags of seeds, and 10 more dirt to grow my wheat in. Oh I can almost taste the bread!!
p-(sigh) Very well, I’ll be back.
(New Quest-Go and get 5 bags of seeds and 10 more dirt for the historian’s wheat garden.)
You return with his request and are happy as while digging you got an item! Maybe the guy at the cemetery that found the scroll is onto something.
p- Here you go, now please?
h- Great! In the level above us beyond the village is a lone miner dwarf. He is wise about all the mines and places of ore in FT both seen and hidden. If anyone knows he will know of a source of silver ingots!
You know exactly where our miner dwarf friend is, and he has been valuable in the past so off you go up two levels following the new quest “Find the miner dwarf and acquire silver ingots!”

v- Wait, these symbols are more important.

Part 3- The Silver Sword
The Miner Dwarf Quest
m-Miner dwarf p-Player
m- Hello, what brings you here?
p- Ore, actually ingots
m- Iron and carbon are right over there
p- What I am looking for is silver
M- Doesn’t exist, none anywhere!
p- Wait, I was told by the historian below you know where every ore is in FT, was he wrong and you aren’t that all wise dwarf with ancient wisdom?
m- He said that? I suppose that is all accurate
p- If I told you we found a scroll that tells where to look to make a Silver Sword would that jog your memory?
m- You are a sly one, flattering me….very well, I may know of some silver long ago hoarded away.
p- You could provide me with some ingots?
m- You would need 10 to craft such a thing, indeed if it is at all possible to do. I cannot but I may be able to find 10 ingots of silver.
P- Excellent!
m- Perhaps not…you don’t expect me to just give up such a rare resource, do you?
p- Of course not, the days of nobility are gone…
m- Oh so now you judge me now do you?
p- I would think the prospect of restoring a free FT would be a good enough reward.
m- We dwarves are a practical lot, now you may succeed or you may fail, and either way our needs remain the same.
p- I get your point, what do you need?
m- I need a pair of Hobbit boots!
p- It may be hard to get, but I’ll try.
(New Quest-Bring the miner dwarf a pair of Hobbit boots for some silver ingots.)
Travel, travel, travel! It seems every new quest means going to the other end of the realm to get stuff! Buying both the Minotaur hide and paying the gold you acquire a nice pair of Hobbit boots and return back.
p- Here you go, do you have the ingots?
m- As promised, here you go, and good luck!
(player receives the 10 silver ingots)
p- I will need it, I must visit the Dragon Dungeon!
Feeling rather proud of yourself you are admiring the silver ingots, what a cool and rare treasure! But what now? Checking your nifty quest book you discover “Now go find Ascanius and tell him the news.” I knew that…of course. Sometimes we all need a quest book to make sense out of life!
Silver ingots to Ascanius quest
As- Ascanius P- Player
As- Hello, what have you discovered?
p- The sword part was not there, but the historian believes these locations each hold part of the things needed to create a new Silver Sword!
As- Wonderful!
p- I also have 10 silver ingots to begin our collection.
As- Great, leave them here and go to the next location.
p- Here you go!
(The ingots go to Ascanius and out of the backpack to allow room for new quest items needed)
One ingredient down, 3 more to go and 3 more locations to visit! But this game has a way of throwing you a difficulty after what has seemed straight forward. You shiver a bit at the next quest message, and the other locations to come don’t inspire much confidence either. It says “Now go find the ancient dragon historian in the dragon dungeon.” Oh boy!
The Dragon Historian Quest
d-dragon historian p- player
d- Aha, you return to me oh book finder!
p- Yes noble one, I need your wisdom.
D- What do you seek?
p- Some ancient ingredients,please don’t kill me!
d- I am a bit hungry….Ha ha…little one what is this all about?
p- I am seeking ingredients to make a Silver Sword. Ascanius has sent me.
d- Oh that is ancient knowledge indeed, I suppose you are looking for something silver?
p- Yes, but I didn’t want to offend…
d- Nonsense! We honor the great silver dragons in our lore and their demise was sad. Yes some scales remain.
p- Oh please…
d- Two scales should do well for a sword, but they are extremely rare.
p- I know how this goes; I’m supposed to ask now what you will take in trade for them because saving FT is not enough of a just cause!
d- I like your spirit! Nobility still lives in FT!
p- So you will give me the scales?
d- I would like to but I do need your help.
p- I’m listening
d- Back in the ancient days when the silver dragons roamed FT there lived a race of noble talking spiders. This ancient race, which even used to build webs here in this dungeon, are no more, but I really could use 2 of their webs. Have you heard of them?
p- I sure have. Far under King’s Garden is one last surviving ancient spider and he will trade with me for a web!
d- If you can bring two webs, and I will give you two rare silver scales.
p- Glad to help, I will return!
New Quest-Get two spider webs to trade with the noble dragon for two silver scales.
After spending a long time fighting Pharaoh Spiders and two days acquire the two webs!
p- Here you go, the spider was happy that you fondly remembered his people and sends greetings!
d- Wonderful! This is truly a good day!
(Receive the two silver dragon scales)
P- Now to the dungeons of doom behind the altar!
d- Seek the forcefield mage you helped before, He is wise!
But first you see New Quest-Go find Ascanius and give him the silver scales to hold.
Report of scales to Ascanius
p- Here are two silver scales!
As- Oh those are very rare. You have done well.
p- Thanks, here, hold these and I will visit the dungeon of doom.
As- Be careful, those mages there are strong!
p- I will, off I go!
You get the quest notice “Go and find an ancient forcefield mage in the mages dungeon within the dungeon of doom.” To go back to the inner dungeon of the dungeon of doom isn’t exactly a fun prospect with all those grouchy and greedy and powerful mages flitting about! But go you must so off to the stable and riding the dragon to the Kraken Island chain you take the boatman to your east and travel to Proditor’s tower island and go down into the doom dungeon, then across and up into the upper NE corner, through the magic barrier, and inside just east of the altar. Taking a deep breath you enter. Some who read this will not be able to use speed potions, for you getting to the forcefield mage will be difficult indeed.
The Forcefield Mage Quest
f- Forcefield mage p- player
The dialogue in this quest is shortened because it’s a wild place if too many mages get zapping! I have broken it up into little parts in case death ensues! Muhahaha

F- Then state your business
p-I need two enhanced potions
f- Health or mana
p- I don’t know!
f-Sigh…I thought you came here for help and instead you will probably die!
p-To enhance a blade!
f- Mana then, bring me two 200 mana potions
Barely surviving you go almost as far as you can go upon the main map to Aetor. Some 5 days later you feel fortunate the grouchy mage cousin has 2 mana to sell. Now back to the doom!
2
p-I have the mana potions
f- I also need 50m each to enhance
p- Wow, murderous and greedy!
f- Never mind then.
3
p- Okay here is the 100m and potions
( items remove from inventory)
f- Excellent! Enhancing!
(nothing given back)
4
p-You didn’t give me enhanced potions!
f- You said I was greedy.
p- I’m sorry please!
f- I’ll think about it.
While he is thinking the other forcefield mages are using you for wand practice! Nearing the end of your HP you exclaim!
5
P- Please it is for a worthy cause!
f-And that should matter to me?
p- To create a Silver Sword!
f- Well why didn’t you say that! Here they are and may the gods give you luck!
(Receive 2 enhanced potions)
You exit just barely with your extra bright blue potions and as you expect the quest line sends you back again to Ascanius for safe keeping.
New Quest-Go and see Ascanius.
6
p- That was a dangerous place, but I made it. Here are the 2 enhanced mana potions!
(potions go to Ascanius to hold)
As-Of course, magical and silver blue in color too,
P- One last stop, I am excited!
As- Yes, soon. The devils are tricky. Be careful!
p- I will…off I go!
The dragons were dangerous, the forcefield mages spastic, but now to those hard to trust devils. This I dread the most! Your new quest reads: “You have survived the dungeons of doom; now seek out the ancient devil on Devil’s Island!”
Devil’s Island Quest
Having received your marching orders you head towards the devil house stronghold on Devil’s Island and on your way and in your haste after going safely through the lava mountain on Kraken past the skeletons and spectre wizards you accidentally clip the inner part of the ball enclosure and manage just to duck through the door before getting rolled over to your death. Whew…talk about a close call and a very long run on sentence I made you endure! Inside the house you seek out the devil that you either gave the ring to or that same devil you made mad by giving the ring to the human. But you are on a mission and either way you must appeal to his greed to get his help. This won’t be easy, but you are three fourths of the way on materials, you must find a way.
d- ancient devil p- player
d- Back again mortal I see
p- Yes I need…
d- You need to become my slave…muhahaha!
p- Wait!! Please!!
d- He hehe a bit of dark humor! What is it this time?
p- I need a special soul.
d- One soul is as good as another we always say as long as they become ours!! Muhahaha!
p- You are scaring me!
d- You ought to be, I suppose you mean a stone?
p- Whew, yes… a special soul stone.
d- For?
p- To make a Silver Sword.
d- Ah…you know what that would mean for us don’t you? I’ll tell you, a lessening of evil in FT! Why should I help you?
p- You are greedy and diabolical and power hungry and are always thwarted by a dumb mere human mage!
d- Hmm….are you sure you haven’t surrendered your soul to us?
p- No! But if Sebastius is gone doesn’t that mean more for you?
d- Very well, I will make a special soul stone for you.
p- Okay, besides my soul, what else would you take as payment?
d- Little do mortals know soul stones are connected to the many dead of FT. One might say the land and its people are one. These stones aid us in our tasks. So I require 15 soul stones to make 1 enhanced stone.
Breathing a breath of relief you exit to go and find 15 soul stones, you read the quest
New Quest-“Bring 15 soul stones to the ancient devil at Devil’s Island.”
You think a word or two needs to be added to the quest wording, like scary devil or horrible devil to go with him being an ancient devil. Finding what he needs you return.
P- Here you go.
d- And here is your special stone…but you will need 2 for a sword.
(receive one special soul stone)
Here we go again, always more never less!
Part 2-“Bring the ancient devil at Devil’s Island 15 more soul stones.”
Complying you return with yet another delay gathering more stones.
p- Here you go! Anything else I need to know?
(receive 2nd special soul stone)
d- Only this, it is no small task you are undertaking. Do not underestimate evil or the magic it creates. Win or lose a devil’s work is never done. You had better leave before I turn this help into betrayal and deceit, though I sense it is already at work.
p- Thanks for the warnings! I’m outta here!
“Go show all and tell all to Ascanius.” Sure, you think, “he has been relaxing while you’ve been running and risking all!” But you take a bit of satisfaction that you have both survived and have actually managed to get all the materials needed.

d- Little do mortals know soul stones are connected to the many dead of FT.

Re: Sebastius Demise?
Part 4- To Craft the Sword
Ascanius gives advice about the sword
As- ascanius p- player
p-Here are the last ingredients, 2 special soul stones!
(soul stones given to ascanius to hold)
As- Wonderful, now we have all the ingredients!
p- Yes Sebastius is as good as gone!
As- Now, get that thought out of your mind, there is much yet to do!
p- Yes, we do need the sword crafted, where can I go?
As- Perhaps the blacksmith at Aetor can help us he is very skilled and knowledgeable.
p- I will find him and ask.
As- Yes let us keep the rare ingredients here until we know for sure.
p- Back soon!
New Quest-“Go visit the Aetor smith and ask about crafting a Silver Sword.”
If anyone knows, this Aetor blacksmith should how to craft a silver sword. I hope he believes me you think as you don’t have any materials with you as proof. As you enter he has the ?over his head so we are in business!
The Smith at Aetor Quest
s-smith p- player
s- Hello there traveler, do you have a project for me?
p- It is a rare request.
s- You intrigue me, what is the project?
p- Here are the ingredients, silver ingots, silver scales, enhanced mana potions, and special soul stones.
s- Amazing! You actually have such rare things?
P -Not with me, but yes.
s- I have only seen silver once before, and all the other things are sword enhancements!
p- So you could craft a Silver Sword?
s- No, I don’t have that much skill. I might succeed but if I fail those ingredients are priceless!
p- Oh….Ascanius thought you could.
s- that is kind of him, but no I cannot, or dare not.
p- Come so far only to fail…
s- Well, I do have an idea. I tell you what, you help me and I’ll give you a valuable suggestion.
p- Alright, what do you need?
s- My supplies are running low, bring me 5 mithril ingots, 5 fragarach swords, and 5 meteors.
p- Oh boy…okay back soon.
New Quest “Get the Aetor smith 5 mithril ingots, 5 fragarach swords, and 5 meteors.”
Gathering you return…why does everyone need something? “It is a quest dummy” the back of your brain reminds you…”that is how it works.” Okay but that doesn’t mean I like it!
p- Here you go!
s- Excellent…now the idea. Give it up! It will never work!
p- What do you mean??
s- If you want to make a magical sword it has to be united with the power of a wand and the more powerful the wand the more powerful the sword.
p- So Ascanius would have to add his wand to the sword ingredients to wield the power the Silver Sword had?
S- Exactly, that should be very powerful indeed!
p- Ah, but if you cannot make such a sword who can?
s-I might have another idea.
p- Good grief!! I suppose you need platinum and magic gems, and 1B gold, and dragon heads, and fairy wings!!
s- Ha ha ha….relax, no this is for free. I think you should go and find Sir Dragonkill. He is old and wise and very skilled.
p- Oh sorry….thank you. Ascanius will be thrilled.
New Quest-“Go find Ascanius and tell him the good news and not so good news.”
Back to Ascanius
As- Ascanius p- player
As- Well? Well? Success?
p- I have bad news and sort of bad news.
As- That doesn’t sound good, okay tell me!
p- The Aetor smith can’t help us, he doesn’t think he is skilled enough and…
as- Okay that was the bad, and sort of bad?
p- He said our ingredients are not enough to make a powerful sword.
As- That is not sort of bad but devastating…
p- He also said to make it powerful enough it must also be crafted with a powerful wand, your wand!
As- Ah, that is good news!
p- Then why do you look so sad?
As- Once a mage has had a wand a long time he becomes united to it. To yield his wand he must die.
p- No!.....only that fits the vision.
As- The vision?
p- Yes I did not tell you when I did the Weisstein I saw you die and toss your wand and the sword appeared!
As- I believe I know what is needed. Sebastius practices his evil ways because of me, I must be willing to amend it. I must therefore die!
P- No, there has to be another way!
As- Now listen. I do know something about wands our smith doesn’t. It cannot be crafted into a sword if it has bonded with a mage. It cannot bond to a sword if bonded to me. But if I die it can magically bond to a sword at my death. The wand knows me and I know it. It knows my will and mind and we work in unison. So my last thought before I die my wand will obey and will bond to the crafted Silver Sword.
p- No there has to be…
as- No there isn’t. You will have to be brave and fight Sebastius alone, but your sword will be extremely powerful.
p- If it must be so…sigh…first it must be crafted…if only…my friend…
as- Here take the ingredients and go visit Sir Dragonkill to craft it and then we will make our plans.
p- I obey…but I do not like this at all!!
(player receives the ingredients 10 silver ingots, 2 silver scales, 2 enhanced mana potions, 2 special souls stones) a bag item has been created that is called “Silver Sword Ingredients” fitting all into one item, a great idea to help players with limited space!
New Quest-“Go find Sir Dragonkill and see if the sword can be crafted successfully.”
With a heavy heart you go to Dragonkill on Lightning Blitzbee Island. You almost hope he refuses because that will mean Ascanius will live, but the evil Sebastius must be undone, sadly no other way seems possible.
Sir Dragonkill crafting quest
d- Sir Dragonkill p- player
p- Hello Sir Dragonkill, it is an honor!
d- An honor? To meet any other living soul is an honor.
p- Well yes….it is then these living souls that bring me here.
d- Ah, so you have a plan to rescue us?
p- Only that which has lain undone for ages.
d- Ah, the overthrow of Sebastius?
p- Exactly…by the crafting of the Silver Sword.
d- And you think a single sword against a solitary figure will cure all the ills of FT?
p- Well I never thought….yes I think it will.
d- I will make this sword for you but evil has spread its tendrils throughout this land and his removal will solve but one growth.
p- I thought this was the quest to end all quests?
d- Perhaps it is the greatest for now, but even the mighty Sebastius has a sprout!
p- A sprout? Another Sebastius? An apprentice as he was of Ascanius?
d- A sprout twice his malevolence waiting, ever waiting for its turn. Be warned! Be vigilant!
p- But evil must be uprooted!
d- Many noble hearts, unselfish and brave, have also sprouted which without evil would not, including you noble warrior!
p- I never looked at it that way.
d- But you are right, the balance must be restored. What have you brought me?
p- Ten silver ingots, 2 silver scales, 2 enhanced mana potions, and 2 special souls stones.
d- It is well. Give them to me and return later and I will have it done.
(The ingredients are removed from backpack)
New Quest-The finished sword!
d- Ah warrior the sword is ready!
p- Wonderful! Ascanius awaits me.
d- You know the shadow of death hovers over this sword, someone you admire.
p- I know, there is no other way.
d- True, but one must carefully count the cost when the dice of war are cast!
p- Give me the sword!
d- Here it is!
(With those words the player does not receive the sword but is sent to 0.0!)
What is going on…you fear you have made a great error and Dragonkill has decided to seize the sword for his own means…only…he is revered…certainly such as he could not be turned by evil or ambition? Checking your quest book you see that you are to return to Dragonkill. I was going to do that anyway you think. With the fate of FT hanging in the balance you rush towards this confrontation for answers!
New Quest-Return to Sir Dragonkill to demand the sword!
The demand for the Silver Sword
p- What was all that about?
d- A small test…with such a sword one could rule FT!
p- I don’t care for such things; I only wish to vanquish Sebastius!
d- I must be sure. Therefore I need some proof before I surrender this to you.
P- What will satisfy you?
d- To begin with bring me a letter from Ascanius attesting to the purity of your heart.
New Quest-Go see Ascanius for a letter of proof to give Sir Dragonkill to prove your worth.
Ascanius Letter Quest
p- The sword is made! But Sir Dragonkill wants proof you sent me and I won’t use the sword for my own wants.
As- Ah, He is wise indeed, we do not need another terror upon FT!
p- Ascanius! You know me!
As- I do, but I failed once before judging character!
p- Yes, you are right to judge me, I can only hope I am worthy for this mission.
As- Ha ha … yes you are worthy! Here is your letter!
(Receives the letter)
New Quest-Return to Sir Dragonkill with your proof
Letter of proof given
p- Here is proof from Ascanius!
d- Yes, yes, it seems to be in order. So you are trustworthy….hmm…but are you brave…it will take great courage.
p- Yes I am brave!
d- Perhaps so, you did gain all those sword elements, still….
p- How else can I prove it to you?
d- Go among the swamp beasts and bring me two pieces of uncooked swamp meat!
p- I will return!
More running and travel…shouldn’t Ascanius’ word be enough? But this isn’t the time for weariness or complaining, the sword was successful and the goal is well in sight. You go among the swamp beasts and gather two disgusting chunks of meat, this backpack has seen better days with all the mess it has had to hold over the years. You recall and shudder at the corpses you once had to gather out of graves.
The proof of bravery quest
p- Here you go
d- Impressive, and I am hungry too this will do well for a feast.
p- Great, now the sword?
d- So you are pure of heart, and brave, but are you smart?
p- Of course I am, that should be obvious.
d- Nevertheless…I will give you a riddle of sorts and you must bring what it describes.
p- Isn’t the fate of FT hanging in the balance more important than wasting time on another quest when the sword is ready?
d- I didn’t think of challenging your patience!
p- You are clever, sorry, what is the riddle?
D- Okay now listen, “From fury drops the sky, protecting you and I. Striped with blue defending true.”
Oh boy what is that you think. You check the quest in the quest book hoping an image of the item needed is shown…”Bring to Sir Dragonkill the item described in the riddle, from fury drops the sky, protecting you and I, striped with blue, defending true.” No picture just a ?mark to mock me. Okay let’s think this through…there isn’t anything we have that comes from the sky…ah but fury drops it…the sky must be a trick to throw me off, a desire to make the riddle rhyme…hmmm…freyas use fury…and one of their drops is the 150 blue shield…so the sky is that it is blue…or a heater like the sun…yet the shield is blue and it does defend. Making your best guess you fight freyas until a shield is dropped and return to Dragonkill. Happily through the miracle of FT magic Sir Dragonkill has the coveted ?over his head assuring you that you have guessed…er used your superior intelligence to figure out the riddle!
p- Here it is! Triumphant at last!
d- Indeed here is your sword, be strong, be brave, and be ready!

Re: Sebastius Demise?
Part 5- The Plan is Made
Ascanius hatches a plan
As-Ascanius p- player
p- I have the sword!
As- Amazing! It looks authentic and I can feel its magic, still…
p- You still wonder?
As- Yes it isn’t the original sword we cannot be sure the gods did not imbue it with something special.
p- But we must try…
as- Indeed, to Sebastius then, only…
P- What?
As- You aren’t going to like how to find him.
p- You don’t know where he is?
As- No, but his daughter does!
p- Oh no!!
as- Sebastius will not willingly go to the Weisstein room without a very good reason, and he would only think it a trap if I contact him.
p- So we are doomed again, how will his daughter betray him?
As- You will need to be clever, you must go see Sebastina! Somehow you must trick her or convince her to help; you might even have to marry her! She can be found in the little tower near the stables.
New Quest-Go find Sebastina and convince her or fool her into getting Sebastius to Weisstein.
You are stuck. The original vision of the silver sword and Ascanius tossing his wand and death was definitely shown to occur in the Weisstein. The vision has been accurate so far, so reluctantly you begin your way to where Sebastina is in her tower. You notice how these ones with ambition choose towers to dwell in so they can look down upon the world! The information about Sebastina you have garnered is that she is beautiful beyond imagining…and beguiling beyond power to withstand…but you have right on your side and somehow all will be well. You hope that isn’t just foolish thinking but your heart tells you otherwise..go ahead and be brave.
Trying to find Sebastina at the tower
d-Sebastina’s defender p- Player
d- Who goes there, stop or die!!
p- I seek a council with Sebastina
d- Ha ha ha…she needs no counsel. Be gone!
p- But I have important information!
d- Then tell me, I am her defender, but the evil vixen doesn’t need defended, her magical raven haired beauty!
p- Oh she is beautiful; oh to serve her must be a dream.
d- Don’t make me kill you for that insult! She doesn’t even see me, but I serve her day and night in this tower.
p- So, you wouldn’t mind if she got what she deserved?
d- (sighing) I have had enough really, have you an idea?
p- What if you proved yourself a hero? If you would tell my information to her I am sure you would be rewarded.
d- Hmm…either way it could benefit me…okay tell on.
p- I have it on the highest authority..(cough cough) that an army is amassing in Weisstein to attack her father!
d- Oh let me think, if I save her father she will thank me, and if she is obnoxious as usual Sebastius will reward me! It’s a deal, I will pass on your information..only..
p- But you want a little money up front in case nobody rewards you?
d- You understand this situation well! I want 200m as insurance and to prove your information is true.
p- Okay, it will be hard but I will return.
New Quest-Bring Sebastina’s defender 200m gold to buy his cooperation.
Gold is easy compared to what you have been through.
P-Here you go!
d- Excellent, now to be a hero! Wait here.
d- (After a long wait) she will tell her father, all is set. She smiled at me for a very long time…undoubtedly sizing me up as her consort!
p- Glad to have helped, good luck with Sebastina. (Little did the defender know Sebastina’s smile was her greedy anticipation of betrayal and power!)
You are somewhat relieved you didn’t have to have a personal encounter with Sebastina, though you wonder if she was as beautiful as described. (okay for the male readers of this you wanted to take a look for yourself as curiosity is hard to fight , for you female readers let’s just say you wanted to see her to find some fault and critique her as not being so great!)
New Quest-Go tell Ascanius the ploy has worked!
The battle is nearing! Back at Ascanius.
p- The enemy is in motion to Weisstein, a bit of deceit and spurned love to make it happen.
As- Well done! Sebastius is not lazy and will pounce upon Weisstein quickly, we must get there first. If he arrives before us he will see no army is there. Come now with haste!
Much to your surprise both you and Ascanius are transported to Weisstein. You were not looking forward to seeing if you still had the candle, and rope, and map, and ring to get into Weisstein!
Part 6 The Final Battle
The Weisstein Battle!
As- Ascanius p- player s-Sebastius
As- We are just in time! Sebastius knows it is a trap! Unsheathe the sword!
p- (You unsheathe the sword) Prepare to die!
s- Muhahaha…you think that little poker will defeat me? I have grown in strength and am beyond such triffles! Ha haha you prepare to die! But first you Ascanius, you plodding useless mage!
As- We shall see, wait my friend and lay down your sword.
p- (reluctantly you lay it down knowing what must come next) Yes Ascanius…it is down.
s- Ha haha, weak and insolent children! Feel my power! (Bolts are exchanged between Sebastius and Ascanius several times…but Ascanius is hit!!)
as- Ahh….You have bested me…and now…cough cough…I must…die….(He tosses his wand upon the sword upon the ground and it fuses into it! You pick it up.)
p- Now you shall die! (The sound of laughter is heard from the room, the laughter of Sebastina and this message is heard) Ha ha! Die father, die warrior, I have already killed that fool defender of mine! Out of this realm and out of my life forever!! (At this both you and Sebastius are transported to the astral realm. Heavy sinister laughter is heard and fading as you go!)
The Final Battle in the astral realm!
s- Sebastius p-player
s- We seem to both be deceived. We need to call a truce and get me back!
p- Nay…your days of dominion are over this Silver Sword shall slay you!
s- But you will be trapped here forever! But, then again that sword is useless…give up!
p- We shall see how useless it is! (You swing the Silver Sword and strike true at Sebastius and it pierces him and is sucked into him and he is dissolved before you!) It is done, Sebastius is no more! (You feel a powerful magic growing in intensity and feel pulled and stretched!)
(You find yourself transported and arrive triumphant at 0.0)
New Quest-Go and talk with the woodsman.
Coming full circle to the woodsman
w- Woodsman p- player
w- Hello planeswalker, so here we are where your journey first began! You have done well, far greater than we could have hoped and all of FT is in your debt! I do have a message for you should this moment ever come. Ascanius said if he should die (you are suddenly struck, with this joyful victory you have lost a dear friend, and your heart grows heavy) he had gifts from his storehouse to give the one who defeated Sebastius. Go to his old spot for a treasure! You know the way well my friend, do not be too sorrowful.
New Quest-Go to Ascanius’ usual place
Final things and new beginnings
As-Ascanius p- player
As- Hello my friend! The gods must have been watching as I awoke at 0.0 quite alive, but quite naked without my trusty wand.
p- Oh my friend, so glad to see you alive, that is better than any treasure!
As- Aha, you expected a treasure, that woodsman likes to tell tall tales doesn’t he!
p- Oh…that’s okay!
As- But you have done well, as you too are alive!
p- Yes the sword worked and Sebastius is gone! Only…
as- You have doubts?
p- No, only something that was told to me by Sir Dragonkill “a sprout twice as malevolent waiting” now I know what he means.
As- I was dead, enlighten me.
p- Sebastina was there and betrayed her father and sent us to the astral realm. She is that sprout!
As- Indeed, well one evil at a time. You have done exceptionally well! Now you have earned a rest. Enjoy the rewards of your victory. Be well my friend!
(at the end of the conversation a nice level reward is given of 10 levels)
The End of the beginning!
Some final thoughts
A note about Sebastius’ death. One cannot expect such a rival to fall under normal battle measures as common sword and common though great player strength. So for those thinking a protracted battle should have ensued before the fall of Sebastius occurred we had to stay true to the vision that only the silver sword could vanquish and only the magic infused by Ascanius’ wand would triumph. You as the hero were simply the agent to deliver the blow already long determined to defeat that evil. The glory of it is that you had been chosen to play such an important role in recreating a silver sword and having the courage and resourcefulness to obtain and make it all possible. Your reward and Ascanius’ reward is both that victory over evil and the aid of the gods delivering you both alive and in your natural realm. What a magical mystery you have been a part of!
