Skills - The stun idea is an ok way to try and deal with hit and run. But the main issue I have is when using touchscreen mode (I hate joystick), its near impossible to get within 1 space of anyone. I still think that if you're targeting someone, and you hit the attack button, you should automatically close in and attack. This mechanic already exists in the game. Monsters use it, and its available in the editor.
My preferred choice - as you know - is ranged weapons for melee characters. I'm *almost* resigned to the fact that this isn't going to happen so am intrigued to see how this class balance issue will be resolved. I think Mad makes two important points here. The stun option will only work if melee characters can catch the faster ranged ones. At the moment that's not possible unless you fill your backpack with potions (which is a disadvantage in itself). Therefore, as others have said, melee and ranged characters should run at the same speed.
I absolutely agree with the second point. It is extremely frustrating trying (and repeatedly failing)to move a melee character within 1 space of an intended target using touchscreen mode. The auto-target and attack feature would be a fantastic addition and it sounds like it should not be at all difficult to implement.

My point is, weight is not really involved in this game. If it were, I think carry weight (and move speed) should be calculable from STR. Your STR is representative of your muscular ability..
Therefore, a mage with 1 STR would be very slow indeed, as it should be. If he had spent time exercising, rather than studying magic, he'd be able to move quicker.
Well, Blitz, these changes to the game mechanics will truly make the FT world worth living. I agree with you each and every suggestion.
Clearly, they will benefit each and every class out there. So, these are, by no means, class specific. As for the mages new formula regarding the dex factor, it is going to make mages stronger comparatively (low levels).
BlitzBee, don't you think that you are biased towards your family? lol joking.
I agree with all except the hit and run.
Archers are suppose to stay away from damage as much as possible just like the mage is.
Other than this I say yes yes and yes . Would vastly in prove the gaming experience for all.
Why would a mage ever require dex to hit with spells?
I had a thought about this a while ago. Boost melee speed. Let them attack while moving. Reduce cooldowns for freeze and fire. Let them use the attack that bypasses armor and eityer freeze or fire at the same time.
For dwarf. Make spell resistance half the damage of spells then do dex calculation. Make beserk last twice as long. Reuduce cooldown by 1/4. Let them use both.
Ogre. Make alightly faster than it is. But not as fast as dwarf or swordsman. Increase hp by a lot. Im thinking by 50% afterall its an ogre. He should be frank the tank. Im not sure about their skills though.
Its not that a nerf is needed for mages. When you start nerfing things it starts a reaction of possible nerfs. Instead boost the other classes.
Archers. Reduce cooldown of double speed. I dont play archers so im not sure on them.
A mage wouldn't need dex to hit.... it would still always hit. My ideas is this: the damage is reduced by opponent dexterity (presumably because they can avoid some of the spell directed by the less dexterous mage) so that reduction (which already happens, this is not new) should be countered by the msge's dexterity.
I like the idea of more variety between the three melee classes, and have suggested several options in the past also
I disagree about mages... the current formulae make them too strong at high levels... my idea nerfs them only slightly, and only at very high levels (while actually boosting them at low and mid levels) but i agree that most of the changes need to be boosting other classes (which offered suggestions for here)
Your ideas on skills would work IMO, similarly to mine... just more for compbatant to code and players to learn your way
