Implementation of class change

Post by lopkey »

Would it be possible to create a way to change your class, for example from archer to mage? Perhaps put it in the in-app purchase section, or cost "X" amount of levels, or gold.

Thoughts?

This feature was discussed by admins. And, as you see, class change is forbidden.
Imho, some classes are easier to train, and if players could train dwarf to lvl 1000 and change his class to mage...it would be fail. Also "rich" guys could change classes some times a day(for example, if they need tank, they will change to ogre, etc.)

Some classes are drastically easier to level up than others. So, if such a conversion were to be ever implemented, the fair cost would be not a fixed number of levels, but a percentage, say, 20% of levels off.
So, your lvl 200 archer could become lvl160 mage. Would you still be interested in such exchange?

Man, 800 mage can easy win PvP versus 1500 mage(armor till 3000 in 10 spells and its done).
Tested by my archer, lol.

Personally, yes, that would be acceptable for myself. Granted I'd have the option of buying those levels back if I chose. What about limiting the number of times a account can change classes say up to 2 times. The first time costs 20% like Kollex suggested. The second time it could go up drastically to prevent abuse, say from level 200 down to 120 or something.

You meant mage 800 vs archer 1500, i presume?

So what? The conversion rate could depend on better calculated grinding dificulty, it may be more, it may be less. But main thing is that lvl1500 is unreachable by regular playing, not in the time since the game was released. So you are basically changing your decision for the levels you have bought. And high exchange rate guarantees you don't do it too much. 1500->1200->960->768
It's better to just upgrade a new char and have 2 for different coccasions ;)

And balancing is always an issue, and things WILL change in the future, I'm sure of it.

I meant that i would change 1500 arch to lower mage. And it will be better than arch.
So class change is valuable. Even too valuable.

I'm approaching thisfrom a role playing perspective. So, whilst I do not agree at all that a character can change class, I do like the idea of dual class characters. For example, an ogre reaches lvl 100 and is proficient at hand to hand combat. He then decides to train as an archer but starts at lvl 0. This would resolve the melee vs ranged pvp imbalance straight away. Worth a thought?

MATT SHOULD JUST IMPLEMENT DUAL CLASSES. RANGER, NECROMANER, PALADIN, ETC...

If something along the lines of dual classes are ever implemented, Compbatant should make a Archer/Mage class!
