Could also be a result of the way you've got the stat's aligned?
I posted some #s in another area, but the main thing to realize is that player dex vs mob dex is more important than STR or ARM for all but Mage. Since it only takes a difference of +6 DEX for the mob and you will get hit -every- .7 seconds (with ARM reducing the damage 80% of the time); and you will only hit the mob approx every 8 seconds meaning it'll take a long time to kill what ever mob that is. It works the other way as well, if your dex is 6 more than Mob's the hit/miss rate reverses. you don't have to have +6..the math is very favorable for player as long as you're at +2 or so.
I've been trying to keep dex = level give or take based on what I'm fighting, but now at 145 and need to get Dex to 165 or 170 IOT fight well vs Huntress (160) and soon Mushyman (165). I'm set up at:
Fighter: 342/479/138 (will get next set of BBoots)
Arch: 320/361/130
Dwarf: 332/478/170
Ogre:319/494/170
Mage: 312/149/24
For the Mage I put some original points to ARM to get HPs up (21k at 145th level), and with that ARM and fact that Mage "regens" during combat, I can "tank" 2 Huntress with mage and a slow-spell while the Ogre/Dwarf pound every hit, and Fighter/Arch still only hitting 9% of time (1 of 11)
