new ideas to help new players.
i would like to see a npc like on the lower right clan map just outside . to warn new players of these clan maps . after taking a break i read in the help pages that the clan maps were at the far edges of game so you can imagine my surprise to find that the top right one is almost in the middle. i died in 5 seconds.... i see lots of new players(lvl 0-20) arriving at weird locations like clan maps ive seen players as low as lvl 6 running past vampires ? maybe portals should be added to a quest to unlock so they dont end up too far a drift.... like a witch quest to unlock them...when you have to grab medicine for her sister she could say run fast i will open these portals to help quicken your journey? clan maps should not let you on before lvl 20 they should say your to weak to enter? yes its important to add new content but as we have we've furthered the gap between low lvls and the high ones, most of us if we had such strong npcs when we first joined and kept dieing every other minute we would have never of kept playing. please have your say ?

Yep either that or a one-off system message: 'BEWARE. You are about to enter a clan map. You can be attacked by players of ANY level' or something similar?

My idea for new members, find me and as I pass through a certain area and win 1mil gold. Put a star or something next to my name so new members under lvl 15 (example lvl) can recognize me as i pass through the beginners area. If they catch me and message me, they win 1mil gold.
Just an idea that higher lvl players can do to help new members without much changes to the game

1 mil is alot lol . i know we talk in mil now. like i say 60 for a shield etc... but new players can buy all their gear for 10k .i tjink if you take all the challenge and hand it on a plate you kinda ruin the game play for them.Imperious1 wrote:My idea for new members, find me and as I pass through a certain area and win 1mil gold. I agree, even at moderate levels like 50ish it can still be a rough ride depending on where you are. I don't think a quest is quite necessary but a level requirement of 20 would help a lot of people avoid the areas.
The further you get into technology,
the further you go into gaming.
That's the general rule.

Lol. Yea. Maybe one mil is a little over the top. Maybe more like an item they can use currently or for their next lvl or two depending on the lvl of the next item.josh50052 wrote:1 mil is alot lol . i know we talk in mil now. like i say 60 for a shield etc... but new players can buy all their gear for 10k .i tjink if you take all the challenge and hand it on a plate you kinda ruin the game play for them.Imperious1 wrote:My idea for new members, find me and as I pass through a certain area and win 1mil gold. There are times when i walk through the beginners areas, with gear drops from just my pet kills along the way, that i pick up just to hand out.
I know new players can buy their gear cheap, but gold is hard to get for them. A free item always helps. This is just an idea to make them earn something for free. It also will help them get to know higher lvl players who can also give advice too.

Not quite sure if this is the right thread, but i have a few new members checkin out the game. We mainly come from a very old (10 year old) game that is now rapidly dien due to the devs no longer workin on it. All updates and fixes no longer happen. Thousands of players have quit the game in recent months. Im hoping i can bring alot of them to FT

Re: new ideas to help new players.
Josh does have a strong point about low lvl players running quests in high lvl areas. Witches sister quest is a great example. I have died many times because a quest of my lvl required me to enter maps where i was killed in one hit. The clan maps can also be highly dangerous for low lvl players who accidently find themselves there due to confusion on what map they need to travel for a quest objective. I have even seen lvl 10 players getting caught up inside the huntress area because they were on a quest mission. It is kind of unfair that they should be subject to death many times before they can complete a quest objective.

i also think that too many quests are lvl restricted. its a fine balance but in short if its too easy and you dont die its not realy fun or a challenge. in short if you die slowly it was a challenge that u will improve to do. if you died immediately it was unfair bloodbath maybe lvl restrictions aren't the best way i just think limiting them to getting there is. ie lowering the restriction on quests that could easily be done by a group of low lvl players? who rememberes staying in large groups to kill 5 ballistas ? its was sooo hard but fun.....

Haha yeah I definitely remember. Also, running to those two chests in the bottom middle screen with a very low dwarf trying to avoid blue swordsmenjosh50052 wrote:i also think that too many quests are lvl restricted. its a fine balance but in short if its too easy and you dont die its not realy fun or a challenge. in short if you die slowly it was a challenge that u will improve to do. if you died immediately it was unfair bloodbath maybe lvl restrictions aren't the best way i just think limiting them to getting there is. ie lowering the restriction on quests that could easily be done by a group of low lvl players? who rememberes staying in large groups to kill 5 ballistas ? its was sooo hard but fun.....
