Archer armor
Am playing an archer. Since I can't wear a shield, would it be wise to put some points in armor, and if so, how many points should I put in? I currently am putting one point in str and one point in dex at the moment.
BOO!

I don't have a lot of experience playing archer. There are some players that have tons of experience so they might be able to better answer. My belief is that you only need dex & str for normal play, especially in the lower levels.

Re: Archer armor
for me it depends of the monster i grind, usually +6dex higher and mostly str for fast kill...arm is the least priority depends on damage of the monster i kill, the higher damage of mobs, the higher arm i put ^_^

Re: Archer armor
I play a level 152 archer and have never put points into arm. I don't PvP, so dex goes to +6 of whatever I am hunting, all else goes to str.

To answer your question, build up your str and dex. The armour you equip should take care of the arm requirement.Ryaca wrote:Am playing an archer. Your phrase 'Since I can't wear a shield' has been raised before, but thanks for bringing it up again. I do think ranged characters should be able to equip their off-hand with a ring, bracelet or (for archers) a quiver that grant different bonuses.

Re: Archer armor
A bow is a weapon you need two hands to use.
To compare this with melee characters: There are also two-handed axe and sword. If you equip such a weapon, you cannot wear a shield, either.
Only thought, meant as suggestion:
If archers use crossbows, there “could” be the possibility of wearing a shield.

Re: Archer armor
Very good point. Could there not be an option for any character to wear a bracelet in the off hand...instead of a shield in the case of melee characters? A bit of choice would stop all characters wearing the same gear as well.Arachnia wrote:A bow is a weapon you need two hands to use.
