Why do so many people fish near the starting spawn location?

Starting map is PvP free zone. Fishing gives small chance of random gear.

I've seen 50 mage bracelet, 80 robe, 75 sword. I know there was more but I don't remember what.
It's all random. Any level gear possible.

No, I don't know the percentage. It may have been posted in another thread when it was added to the game, but I am not sure.
