to answer your question: He was a player, he is (and has been for quite awhile) a GM. Also, there is no reason you shouldn't have heard of him before, he is plenty active in game and on the forum (with more than 5 times the forum posts that you have)

We've always gotten along well GOLGREN (shoot, I even kinda wrote your character into the game ) ... but I've been the one attacked while trying to work with and help the players too many times to just let this one go.
