Archer can wear shield now?

Is new update...given archers the chance to wear shields now? Or us it a glitch/bug?

Archers can wield a shield, but you can't wield a weapon with it.

I tried to equip a shield while bow was equipped and this would not work.

The 1500 crossbow is one handed and can be used with a shield
