energy saving mode

Post by Shamoth »

Since i have started to play mage i have noticed that some energy saving would be nice for smartphones.
I know that refresh/sync rate cant be lowered because it would impact gameplay but what about using face/light/proximity sensor to dim or even turn off backlight or even lcd to save some energy while mage is regenerating mana somewhere. Other chars could use same feature to regen hp. Of course using this mode would be risky if we leave char in dangerous place or some pvper would happen ;)
Also this could be used to cover sensor with paper sheet if boss comes in at work ;)

Great suggestion. I bought a new phone 2 weeks ago because my old phones battery did not last very long playing this game. Turns out my new phones battery drains just as fast as my old phones battery. If I'm not playing the game, my battery lasts 7-10 hours surfing the net, watching videos, or using other apps. But if im playing this game, I'm lucky 2 get 3 maybe 4 hours before I'm in the red from a full charge.

Well, from my mobile online gaming experience FT is draining battery fast. Of course there are aps that can do it even faster like newest pokemon go ;) or slower like ragnarok. Ragnarok can last 3-4 times longer than FT, but its sync rate is low and many parts of game are client side so its prone to cheat.
I have tinkered old sgs2, new slim rom, new double size 3200mah battery and it can hold about 4 to 6 hours on wcdma while playing FT, all depends on backlight intensity and gsm signal strength.
I have few other phones and tablets but so far only sgs2 i was able to tinker with double size battery and still keep decent phonish look, but still carrying 10400mah powerbank just in case ;)
Thou im constantly thinking about that hit limit that is caped to 7/s. I have no idea what is sync rate of FT but 7Hz would be max?
Also frame limiter would be nice, for long and boring grinding there is no need for huge fps...

When I mine gold in the dark dungeon, my phone lasts literally all day plugged in. When I am on any other map (for instance, a light green grass map) Id be lucky if it lasted 3 or 4 hours plugged in.

The primary problem I clan see with this is how complex this would be to program in along with everything else on creator's list. The complexity of making these options compatible with all the different devices is a task I envy no-one.

Are You asking for monochromatic/CGA version? ;)

No, I'm suggesting that if the grass were a darker colour. Then our batteries would last longer.

I actually use a screen filter but it also dims the text which is an unfortunate side effect. Also, it doesn't seem to improve battery life in the same way as sitting all day in a dark dungeon does(don't ask me why)

You can download an app called "shut app" on the playstore. It is really easy to use and shuts down all unnecessary apps on your phone. It does a good job of keeping them closed too.
It will probably increase your battery life by some 40percent the very first time you use it. Don't expect miracles though, you know what battery life is like.
