Safe zones

Can someone please explain how safe zones work? Like are shops and bank and tavern safe from pvp? Is spawn map and map below pvp free zones? I've heard so many different answers in the game that I realize not many people know.

The spawn map is a safe zone otherwise players would be killed repeatedly as they respawn. This is one of the reasons so many players choose to fish at that map. However, the cave on the spawn map is not PVP-free.

The map below also is pvp-free.

Shops are safe zones but the bank isn't and I've never known the reason why. I'm not sure either way about the tavern.

To get safe zone the area around bank has been discussed in the past, and might be safe already. We should check it.
I don't know about the tavern, and I'd like to add the zone around the smith (wherever he spawns) as a desirable safe area :D

Find me in game and we'll test the bank and blacksmith shop. I know that twice now, my enemies that usually attack me on site have not attacked me while i was standing next to the bank and next to the blacksmith shop. And they were waiting for me to leave. So that tells me that they could not attack me while I was standing at those two locations. I also remember when one of my clan members was getting attacked near blacksmith shop a while back, I tried to attack the aggressor and a message appeared on the screen that shops are pvp free zones or something to that effect and I was not able to kill the player until we stepped well away from the blacksmith's shop. This may have been changed with updates, but I am unsure. I also remember that once I went to banktown and there was two clans having a war there, and a clan member whispered to me that I was safe as long as I stood above the sign near the bank and I was not attacked and the two warring clans are clans that usually attack us on site so I definitely want to test this theory. Now my curiosity has been peaked. I also hang out in the brass monkey tavern and the shop there and have never been attacked there either. I will check all of these locations and try this out. Of course, I Will not have have my gear on when I try this. ;)

Ok to test the bank. Regarding the blacksmith, of course the shop is safe, being it a shop. I wrote the smith itself, wherever he spawns, could be make a safe area, in case he is not yet.
I also hang out in the brass monkey tavern and the shop there and have never been attacked there either
The shop close the tavern, being a shop, is a safe zone. The tavern itself, outside and inside, idk yet :D

Ok. First of all, thank you Ardesia, Leone, and a special thanks to Madmaniac. :D Mad and I went to blacksmith, marteks stronghold, coliseum, brass monkey tavern and bank. This is what we discovered. The blacksmith shop is safe, but smith himself is not. Marteks stronghold is only safe if you are near shops within the stronghold. If you travel too far from the shops within stronghold, you will not be protected. Just to clarify, ALL shops are safe. Even witches shop and witches sister shop. Of course the coliseum is not safe (thank you mad for showing me this, I never knew it existed lol)! The brass monkey tavern is not safe outside the tavern but is safe inside. And finally, the bank is safe even from below the sign. So glad to clear this up. You would be amazed by how many players are confused on this issue. I've heard so many different things from players that have very high levels. If you have any other places you would like me to check out, reply in this forum and I will call on my good friend Madmaniacal and see if he is available for testing. ;)

The collesium is ace for events. Not had one though in a while mods :)

This is an old thread and needs some updating. I have been told a few areas are PvP free but would like confirmation.
I have been told Ardesia is PvP free within it's walls and grounds but not in it's buildings.
I have been told the upper level of new king's garden dungeons are PvP free.

Can anyone verify this?
And if yes on king's garden upper level then what about lower level.
Also what about Aetor island buildings?
And if any other newer content PvP free areas?

Ah the ghost of ryaca. This is a very old thread from another life. Well done Gull for reviving this thread.

As far as I know I remember a great and mighty lion telling me that anytime there is an NPC, they should provide pvp protection in the immediate area. This works with private houses and shops throughout FT.

I'm not sure if this information is still accurate or not because many things have changed since this thread was created.

Perhaps a GM can weigh in on this If they have time.
