How about this? Afk for a period of time resulting in a short outlaw status, lasting until they logout or change maps?

That would be perceived as a punishment for many AFK grinders. On the other hand, already outlawed players wouldn't be effected so much, while grinding AFK is a rules violation requiring a reaction able to homogeneously affect all breakers.
And I agree with 14 minutes, or even 10, to be a too long time. Were this system to be implemented, I'd like it to work on 3-5 minutes.

Ardesia is correct

The thing about the timed logout is that it is a positive thing, innocent AFK people aren't punished for e.g. taking a bathroom break, and rule breakers get booted out of grinding, this improves game experience overall.

I would also like the system to keep a separate log of names, dates , times and locations for players booted by the AFK timer, because repeat offenders should then be watched more closely by GMs in case they are actively breaking the rules. If found to be deliberately AFK grinding then jail time.

Basing on game rule #13 (viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2560) I'd say that innocent AFK people are those players who happen to leave their character unattended AND not grinding NOR sieging.
If a character is grinding XP or sieging while being unattended CAN'T be considered innocent, whatever the reason why no one is looking at it.
If one feels sleepy, of needs a break, they can logout, do whatever they want to do, and log back again later.

Nevertheless the point stands
It's a positive way of preventing rule breaking which treats everyone equally and reduces some of the burden on GM

I feel a 5 minute timer would be sufficient. If you don't do any sort of game interaction it'll log you out. This includes absolutely any action whether it be inventory browsing, chatting, moving, attacking, tapping on someone or a mons etc. You touch the screen at all it counts lol.

Don't keep a log for "repeat offenders" thst get logged out as I feel that be unecessary. I play on 2 devices simultaneously from time to time and sometimes when chatting on one I might not tap on the other for a few minutes if the spawn is going good. I glance at them back and and forth ofc but might not always tap within a few minutes.

I don't want the abusers of this system to ruin it for the rest of us and make the game an annoyance to play. Either make the game more interactive to encourage tapping and less screen watching or cut us a bit of slack. I'm not gonna stare blankly at my screen and watch my screen non stop I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous on a tap and wait game. I've known GM's not respond within 20 seconds before countless times yet I've been yelled at for the same exact thing. Literally within 20 seconds.

I've supported every afk-prevention thread but I'm just worried it's gonna get taken too far. There's a huge difference between someone going afk for a minute to run to the bathroom or get a drink when they're the spawner/tank for a group of 5+ people not wanting to stop the group and someone grinding for hours on end as they're sleeping or just away in general.
