A GM organises an event for a specified date and time. Loads of players turn up at the map in question and for an hour or so, the GM creates hordes of monsters for the assembled players to kill. The players also get the drops associated with these monsters.

There are variations to this, but this is the basic idea.

i know Mad is fed up of complaints, but here nobody is complaining, just reporting the way it is, partecipation , suggestions, ideas and so on are usually encouraged;

The complaints are more to do with the spawn parties. Here are some of the most common. Bear in mind that GMs are volunteers and spawn parties fall outside the remit of normal duties.

1. Spawn parties are usually open to all lvls and so it tends to be the high lvl players (particularly mages) who receive the xp and drops from the spawned monsters. Other players do not like this and complain.

2. As there are so many players and monsters on screen, the lag can be bad. GMs advise players to zoom in to reduce lag but not everyone does. The players then complain about lag and actually add to the lag by doing so.

3. GMs state rules in advance: no pets, no outlaws, no pvp. Some players ignore these rules and are teleported by GMs to another map as punishment. They return and complain.

4. Some players cotton onto the fact that the GM is standing still for an hour and bombard them with all types of requests, despite being asked not to. This means the GM can't devote their time to the spawn party.

There are probably more of these that I've forgotten. Hope this gives you an idea though!

for sure i can understand that be a GM is not a walk among roses, and people are pushing and pushing .. and so on

i m just saying that , if u noticed, here we were just laughting about some aspects of the game, not complaining not blaming ..

for this reason , even knowing GM situation, i don t understand the reaction

I would also like to add that I know that the absence of 2k gear in the game is not the fault of the GM's or Admin. However, if it was a specific GM or Admin that came up with the idea for and pushed for fishing to be changed, I would have to change my response.

Thank you Leone, for your very good explanations. That is most (if not all) of it.

As for my post, I did not mean to infer anyone here was actually complaining; the complaining I was referring to was the stuff that happens at spawn parties... I myself have specifically asked to NOT have the better spawning ability, just so I CAN'T do spawn parties.

Ok, so I'm a little bit bitter about past parties. There's plenty of info about this on the forum (like the time when I stayed up 24 hours to do parties that the whole world could participate in... still complaints about the time smh).

And yes, I don't like the fishing nerf or the lack of 2k gear any more than any player here. Sure, I don't have any 2k accounts, but I do get asked about said gear quite often. So maybe I'm a little bitter there too.

This is why I'm currently taking a "break" from FT atm; maybe you've noticed I have not been in game much lately; I only go in when I need to, and when I do, I avoid public places. Yes, the game has gotten to me, so I'm taking a bit of a vacation; I'm still on facebook and forum daily though, if needed, and I am still helping many players as requests come up.

As for future plans, I really don't know anything more than rumours, and I'm not supposed to spread rumours.
All I can say for sure is, that there is an intent for 2k gear to be obtainable in a future update. I have no idea on the plans for fishing.
Sad thing is though, I have no idea when any of that will be. It could be tomorrow, it could be next year. I don't know.

Thank you Mad for keeping us updated and for sharing your thoughts and feelings. I hope that you will stay in the FT community. I personally am thankful for the forums so that I can have a place to voice my concerns and suggestions and sometimes my frustrations.

While I don't disagree with your original post here, I'd add that the best gear in the game being available through fishing in the first place was absurd as well... After it was available that way, then the choice to leave it or remove it is a lose-lose dilemma. If you remove it without implementing a better way to acquire it, then you run into exactly where we are now with it (bad) - If you leave it the way it was while you develop better ways to acquire it, then you only exacerbate the issue of high level characters hoarding it and gaining additional advantage over those <2k. IMO, the best option (again, this is after it was made available through fishing in the first place, which is incomprehensible to me) was to pull them from the fishing pool (pun intended) and QUICKLY (like, immediately) introduce a better system of acquiring the items. Clearly, this did not happen (for several reasons I'm sure) I do know there are two different things in development which could make them available, though of course I can't guess when they'll be in game.

Also, this is a good time for yet another reminder that I'm no longer a GM (and haven't been for a long time) so please do not take anything I say as an "official" response from the GM team.... just my opinions on a big issue

Blitz, can you give me some background information about why fishing items was brought about in the first place? I'm just curious how the whole idea came about as I have never played a game with this option before. Well, except Zelda: links awakening. And I have to disagree with you on one of your points. Fishing high gear was around for sooooo long that there really was no reason to PANIC and remove it all of a sudden like it was with no new version announcement and without a new way to acquire it. By that time, the damage had already been done. The reason I am so frustrated is at level 1500 I wanted to get a zombie pet and it was taken away just before I got to that level. When I reached level 2k, fishing was changed. Now I finally have my red dino pets. I wouldn't be surprised at all if for some reason my dino pets were taken away or nerfed somehow being that that seems to be the trend with me whenever I accomplish a milestone, someone makes a decision to ruin it.

No problem at all . Although I usually agree with you, we don't see eye to eye on everything. And as you have said, that is ok. I just wonder who decided that, "WE MUST CHANGE FISHING RIGHT THIS INSTANT"!

Like I am sure that this issue was talked about for some time but I am curious to know what was the sudden emergency where panic and hysteria took over and it was decided to change fishing at the time that it was changed. At that time, fishing had already been around for so long. Like what was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back?

I seem to remember it being around the time that the value (as in no value at all) of gold was being discussed. This may have been at least part of the reason for the decision to nerf fishing.
