Fog of War
Most people know this in the games they play.
I think it could fit great on FT's world map
Here how it gonna work:
Our world map, will have a dark fog at places we havent go Yet. So we start at the start map.
On the world map we will see the start map normally,
But other places, (for example 0.1 0.2 1.2) we will see these as dark fog, that will prevent us to see what is there, To unlock the fog from our world map, and to be able see that place at our world map, we have to travel there.
This will make the game more.. Mysterious, about the FT World. (Specially for new players)
And will make them want to learn what is the place there.

If this were implemented before the game got this big, I would love it. The problem lies in:
1. The system would not remember where the older players have been, so it would fog for them as well. Everyone would start with a newly fogged map.
2. Even if only implemented on the world map view, it would increase both app size, and number of server checks when viewing the map, resulting in lag.
A nice idea, and I would support it, but the pros and cons should be weighed before trying such.
