non melee abilities

hello

past days i read in other topic discussions about abilities of character, expecially about supposed mage handicaps.

i m playing an alt non melee, archer, and try to get bone keys from ogres. i noticed that other not melee character, mage,

can use slow spell and works well, in spite of magic resistance, on the other hand; if my archer try to use freeze arrows, no effect

on ogres.

Is a specific caracteristic of the class? archers in fact play like a mage, move-shot-move-shot .. and so on, so , shouldn t have a little

advantage as the other ranged one has ? (note that a melee under 200 has BIG problems with ogres, a non melee of same class can

do the bone keys quest really better)

unless I'm mistaken, ogre halflings have a skill immunity. Since spells trigger differently than skills, slow spell will work, while freeze or possibly fire arrows will not. If anyone else can verify, that would be great.
