When I fight a mage and he heals from red to full green in seconds, I think, WOW, maybe my potion was defective or maybe, I need 70 backpacks to hold the equivalent in potions to match a mages healing ability.
Mages truly are hard done by though, let's increase their damage too, so instead of leveling 2 or 3 times as fast as other classes, maybe make it 5 times!
In fact, lets change the game from FT to MT - Mage Tales and every non-mage class is placed on a very little, isolated island with 1 stone and 1 tree to share, 1 really expensive shop, where monsters hp are doubled and XP earned is halved, this will allow the mages to really thrive!
Geez, thanks to all these well thought out posts, I now see that mages really have been unfairly treated, disrespected, overlooked and down right stepped on... Please correct this injustice
And thanks to your post i got to know that how non mage characters are unfairly treated.
95% spell protection on gear, more hp, no damage resistance when they attack mage, 50% reduction of spell damage in pvp. What can be more unfair than this.
You must be a low level charcter, because you don't know what you are talking about

Add 10k and 100k HP pots to shops and u can have your new heal spell lol, those 1k HP pots are junk at high lvls.
That will also bring value to gold in game too.

oh, one thing that I think would help the conversation -
we need to stop acting like mages are victims because of other classes having magic resistant gear... that is a measure put into place to help balance the fact that mages were way, way, WAY OP
They have poorest armor.
They have low dex than other characters of same lvl (others have gear for dex)
Mages also have low hp than any other class( and low means very low.)
Let me give an example
Say archer lvl 500
Has str 1600 arm 1400 dex 400(all points in str and dex armor from gear, let say 800 points in str and 200 in dex)
Mage lvl 500 has
Mana 1500 (points in mana 600 let say)
armor 400 (points on arm to increases hp let say 200) dex 400(points put 200 say)
Let's assume both dex same.
500 archer has 55%magic resistance but hitting mage at 1600 damage- 400 mage armor. Total 1200 damage
500 mage has spell damage of 1.5k per spell (600 points in mana). during pvp the damage reduced to 750 , after 55% magic resistance reduced to 360 approximately.
?archer doing 1200 damage per shot mage doing 360 damage per spell with mage much low hp(almost half of archer after putting points in arm)
So how mages are much more powerful?

Obviuosly i am much lower character than most of the players. Mages will always have lower hp than others of same level. And spell damage reduction during pvp also same for all mages no matter what level. In addition to magic resistance.

1> notice that I said the magic resistant gear was in response to mages being OP... so you'd have to remove the 55% magic reduction from the archer in your example to get at what I was talking about, which is mages BEFORE the magic resistant gear.
2> you didn't take into account the mage attacking 4 times faster than the archer.
3> you didn't take into account the fact that the mage can just heal himself back to full hp whenever he wants (unless the archer is using heal blockers)
EDIT: the level 500 mage from your example is pretty poorly set up with only 600 points in mana imo too
All of this is a great illustration as to why there should be two heal spells... the area heal which we have now, and a self-heal which does not allow a mage to out-heal an attacker of similar level.

During my time as a shdw member (Archer) i remember when we where around level 500- 600 and when we have to defend againts level 1500 mage. Often we go grinds levels alone and when a mage at this high level showed up as a "Archer" it Was really hard to defend this "High lvl mage", they could easily use slow spell when I try to run away when Im bleeding red. ( I vote YES " BUT") if we could change anything that could help Archers escape faster in a certain time like speed pots. Maybe could do like an "escape boost skill" that I think suit an Archer. Hehe
And should be aloud "Only" if you need to escape during spells , like the slow spell or stuns.

IMO, speed potions should counter slow spells. And vice versa.
