Could I suggest then that maybe a small announcement of the levels required for event be announced? Such as "pirates are attacking ashdown! Levels 1-10 go defend the town." or just adding at the end of the message (10) so the max level shown is in parenthesis.

I have pretty much stopped going to the invasion at Marteks castle for the same reason. Some level 1500 or other high level will tank all the mobs into one area and have his pets spread out a little bit. This creates a huge aggro storm in one area while them and their pets kill the enemies, lower levels can't get close enough to fight 1 or 2 without pulling 10 other enemies to them.

The funny thing is, those were actually just the test events... the real events never got implemented; more important stuff comes up, or whatever.. and not many ideas came out I guess. Really I can't say for sure. I do know, that input on the matter would still be welcome.

I'd suggest, resurrecting the original post (I've been intending to do it for a while now, but y'know, get busy, and it's not high in my list of priorities)
Add as many ideas as you like. Perhaps, compbatant will show interest ;)

I know there is nothing that can be done.

But it is so sad to see the lower levels leaving because they can get anything because of these "thieves", and that's what I call them too.

Today I left with a feeling of disgust!

Sure there is.
Help get new events implemented, if you can.
Suggest ideas, and/or, encourage others to suggest.
If there were more lucrative events available, I bet you these players would go there instead...
Apart from those just going to check it out, the main motivator here is likely greed - yes, I feel the disgust too.
Put a bigger shiney somewhere else, and if they can only pick one... that's where they will go.
There's no reason that events can't go on simultaneously - although, start times may be a few minutes apart, to allow for messages.
Once that happens, it will be much easier to spot someone who's going to just annoy others.

Oh, and the thing at Marteks... sometimes, high level players go there for the opposite reasons of what you're thinking.
Some collect the quest drops, and hand them to low level players.
Some are just making it possible so players can get in and out - it's kinda hard at that time of day.
Really, you can't be sure unless you watch them... and perhaps, ask them ;)
If they say they're hoping for a rare drop or something - tell them they won't get one, and they can ask a GM if they don't believe you ;)

I like Tarlin's idea.

'Pirates are attacking ashdown village'

Add: 'they need strong teams up to lvl 20 to fight them' or 'there are no special drops' or 'those with pets should look elsewhere.

Or something similar.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea - ideally it's a perfect one.

But let's think of how the current mechanics work - under the current chat system, etc., that would take multiple lines of chat... which would not be favoured by most. Plus, chat lines disappear sometimes smh.

Ok, yes, remaking the chat system is something I'm sure we'll all agree is the best option.
But that's no small addition or edit.
Let's try and come up with alternatives that can work within the existing game... they are more likely to be implemented in the meantime until the above is done.

One idea is, you get an envelope explaining the event... only issue I see is some would not like getting those everyday, and they do pile up if you don't log on.
We could try and think of ways to work around that...

But we're getting off topic in off topic here.
This is LK's thread lol... let's show him a little more respect ;)
We really should take this sort of talk to suggestions I think.

Well, you are showing respect ... I started the whole thinh right here.

Now if a GreatModerator were to decide that this should me in "Suggestions" and was to move that post and the following up to and including this post to a new thread under Suggestions, who am I to argue.

In fact I would applaud the idea. :D

Gooooooooooooooooooooood Morning Viet....
No wait that's wrong ... Robin Williams ....

Gooooooooooooooooooooood Afternoon Forgotten Tales!

A HUGE thank you to Ryaca for doing some crafting for me that took a few days. Seem we both need to go take a refresher in mathematics though, and that's all I'm gonna say on that. :D

Well I got lvl 241 this morning ... just! Seems like no matter where I go someone moves in beside me ... sucking up half or more of the spawn. So a 3 hour event to level becomes a 6 or 9 hour event, because when one shows up ... another is soon to follow. {sigh such is life}

HOWEVER, because I spent time with GOLGREN last night I went to within spitting distance of levelling up before I had to hit the pit, so this morning was easy.

Last night, coming out of The Rock and there he is: GOLGREN!
ROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR!!!
--- scared the ... well you know!

Me: "Eeeeeeeeeeek!! Hi buddy, wanna do something together?" {heart palpitations ...}
and the ever talkative GOLGREN: "YES!"

Long story short version in pictures ...

Told GOLGREN he was yellow: Show

... of course he misunderstood ... I was talking about his life line.

Ended up doing Cavemen ... WOW!!!! Now doing those boys brought up my level pretty quick!

GOLGREN, a formidable enemy, but an awesome friend.
My left boot is now "a weapon of mass destruction" thanks to GOLGREN!
Don't understand ... it's in an earlier post.
