Storage Lockers

Post by Humble_M »

One of my friends is trying to acquire some fire plates for me. She knows someone willing to give them to her, but since both players are on different continents, it's hard to coordinate when both are online. so, this got me thinking...

As of now, when a homeowner clicks their house, they get options to store items, store pets, or craft. my idea is to expand this same functionality and create "lockers" at existing storage locations (ie the bank and the tavern).

Player A wants to give an item to Player B. so, Player A goes to the storage location, when they click it, they get options to open their PERSONAL storage, create a new locker, or open existing locker

Create a Locker:
- when player A clicks Create a Locker, FT automatically assigns a locker ID (random 6 - 10 characters). This will display until Player A clicks close. Or, maybe it displays for 10 sec (should be enough time to write it down)
- player A creates a pin which they must then provide to Player B (via in game message, chat, etc). I think this should have a minimum # of characters
- player A also must provide the locker ID to Player B
- once pin created, Player A can then place a single item into the locker
- at any time, Player A can remove the item by entering the locker ID and pin, which automatically closes the locker
- locker remains "open" for a set time. I think 8 hrs or 12 hrs is sufficient

Open Existing Locker
- Player B clicks Open Existing Locker
- Player B then must enter the correct locker ID and PIN. Once entered, the item displays and Player B can add to inventory

If an item is not claimed before the timeout, then FT automatically returns the item to the original owner and closes the locker

Now, this is just an idea. I'm sure others will find plenty of fault with it. I was thinking there that there must be a better way for players to give items to each others when they can't play at the same time

Well good idea but it sounds complicated to me. With all locker id's and pin s. Not sure if easy to implement.
Maybe a simpler way of sending items like a house to store items (like chest in tavern) which can be assessed only by friends. Just like clan building is assessed by clan members. U keep item there and pm ur friends that this item i kept for this person. When that person on he take that item.

Staying alive in battlefield in fear of our enemies is Death!!
Running from our enemy instead of fighting is Death!!

What about being able to sell/send items to a friend the same way you send a message? I can see abuse potential having someone send pots during PvP, or just mining 500 ores for friends to convert to ingots for me while I mine. It'd maybe be a bit more streamlined though

If a player couldn't receive the items during pvp (while targeted), I'd love this.
One other problem, tho, is that item trades fail unless both players are logged in and on same map. Given the recent issues with item trading, I think it'll be a while before we see significant change to trading.
