Multiple Storage Access
I previously submitted a suggestion to add a storage location in Ardesia City (viewtopic.php?f=8&t=15446). This got me thinking...how many times am I "somewhere" when I realize that I need "something". I'm close to the Bank, but I need something stored as Brass Monkey. So, wouldn't it be nice to have access to the other storage locations? So, here's my thought:
How Acquired:
1) Players can purchase "Storage Access" from the purchase menu. Options could include:
$2.99. This is for 30 days access
$5.99. This is for 90 days access
$12.99. This is for permanent access
2) Players can pay an in-game gold cost which lasts for a set time period. When it expires, a new purchase is required. I'm thinking maybe 1B-5B per 30 days access
How It Works:
At any storage location, once the player clicks, a menu displays. Options include:
- Bank
- Brass Monkey
- (Ardesia City) if added
- Purchase
When a player clicks a location, that location's storage items then display. If they click purchase, they can then pay the gold cost
Notes:
1) This suggestion does NOT add any new storage slots. Players need to purchase additional storage thru normal means.
2) It also provides a built-in gold sink and can make extra $ for the devs
3) Prices just initial thought

Re: Multiple Storage Access
I like the idea, but not the real cash or game cash numbers. People who are low level have the same issues. Travelling across the entire map to get a piece of level 250 gear from the bank to put it in my house in Ardesia probably seems like a "low level noob" problem to many though.

Re: Multiple Storage Access
I'm rather torn on the issue.
While convenient as it may be, walking distances has always been a part of the game.
That said, the game is growing, and there are features being worked on that will lessen this.
It will likely be needed as the game grows larger too.
The trickiest part with a game like this is, not making it too easy, and not making it too tedious.
Some think it too tedious already, and try and cheat to make it less so.
I've seen the game just get easier and easier tbh, as I can recall a time when many standard features now were not available - such as bank/tavern storage or even diagonal walking. Personally, I liked the challenge of it back then... but, I will admit, the game has become a bit more balanced between those who buy levels and those who don't (of course, you can't balance that completely).
Let's not make it overly easy though - it would lessen the value of those who have worked hard to get where they are today.
Like for example, if I'm on my GM account, and players beg for items/levels/gold etc.
Think about it - if I gave these things out on request, how fun would that make the game?
Everyone would be the same level - max level - and all have the same gear - max gear.
What would be the point of playing then?
(Oh, and if I tell this to the player in game, typically they say "no don't give to anyone else, just me, no one has to know")
When I consider these type of things, I have to say I don't like the idea so much.
Perhaps, if it were implemented in a different way, idk... like a small emergency stash you could keep and access from any town maybe; but I don't think it should affect the existing storages. Just my opinion. Hope more will chime in with theirs.

Re: Multiple Storage Access
That's what I like about your posts, Mad - always honest. I throw out a lot of ideas, some good, some not. My goal is to start a conversation. Suggesting changes or saying that idea stinks is expected and won't hurt my feelings.

EDIT: MadM beat me to the punch! DING! 1 for MadM
I'm like Sellsword, I like the idea. And while real $ is an option that will help compbatant I think of it more as a "money grab" considering the the fact to walk from one end of FT to another really isn't all that far. I, like others, do it all the time. I can see a one time price like a pet - a couple of dollars, after all, it's only a convenience. Raise the price and {cough cough} I'll walk thank you.
Let's pretend there is Akkilles' Storage at Ardesia City - because I suggested the name before.
What I think would work nicely is a "gold" value.
You are at the bank in Bank Town...
You see what you have in the Bank, and links: [Brass Monkey] [Akkilles' Storage]
OK, what you want is not in the Bank, you click on [Brass Monkey]
Now you see that you have at the Brass Monkey and links: [Bank Town] [Akkilles' Storage]
And there you see what you want. Since you are not "there", you'd pay 50g to get it, lets face it you already own what you want to get. And if you don't want to pay the 50g, or your lvl is such that 50g is way to expensive, at least you know exactly where to walk to get it.
1B-5B per 30 days access
to get something that is a few minutes away, at most, that I already own!
This would mean it's only the rich and famous can afford this service.
There are lower levels that play this game as well, so I'd like to champion for them ... because I'm one of them still and I can't afford 1-5B.
=== OR ===
I'd even like to see the [Brass Monkey] [Akkilles' Storage], [Bank Town] [Akkilles' Storage] or [Bank Town] [Brass Monkey] functions just as they are described above, so I can see what's where and know where to walk to get what I want.
OR: do what I do:
- A little storage.txt file updated as things change in the various locations.

Re: Multiple Storage Access
yeah, I guess my intitial gold sink costs are excessive!
I do like @LostKnight's transaction fees, though. Maybe have the fees based on the item level?
0G: Level 0 - 50
50G: Level 51 - 250
100G: Level 251 - 500
400G: Level 501+

Or even better: apply that to character level. Sometimes player(25) strikes it big time when someone gives him a level 750 item, why should he have to pay 400g when 99% of his items are in the 0-50 or 0g range?

Re: Multiple Storage Access
Let me add that fees assessed ONLY if adding/removing items from location other than where you're at

Going with the tried and true "you can look but you can't touch" is good advice for many things, and a good starting point for many ideas as well.LostKnight wrote: Mon Apr 02, 2018 8:27 pmAs Mr. Peterson would say, "Unless it was a beer fridge!
