'Interactive' Pet

Post by hungry_wolf »

Let me say this before : when i have same pets for long time, such as worms that cover a wide range of levels, i start to feel a bit of virtual affection for them :D and sometimes i d like a sort of
... interaction.

So i tought this : when my pets and i already experienced a map or a mob, that can be stronger or weaker, np, could be nice get a message like ' this monster is too strong ' or 'dex of mobs is higher than ours' , or 'be careful there are some Death there' ... anybody can invent.

i know could be considered strange, but .. pets have an important role in our leveling, admit they exist and are more than an item can help us play better and enter more in game

I like this idea :)
In DragonQuest, you can talk to followers at ease: you click them and they answer with random sentences, about weather, food, resting, touristic places...
It would add a lot under a roleplay and emotional point of view, but would make it harder to face their death

You perfectly got my point
to better experience game put more of us in the avatar (everybody do this inconsciously) , also develope feelings for pets or mobs is part of roleplay .
For sure would make harder absorb losses, but we must remember that when we play, philosophically, what we do is 'real' :D , if we admit that can happen
situations like pvp persecutions, wars, scamming, tricks and so on, we also could like friendship and affection :)

(we cannot be sure man has gone on the moon, but we are sure that Flash Gordon visited planet Mongo, as Umberto Eco wrote) :D :D :D

I like this idea but I wouldn't like it so much if the pet chat takes up text room at the top of the screen. At busy times it is easy to miss messages and so this would add to it.

I guess a toggle on/off feature would solve it.

Having it in chat area would be annoying, I totally agree. It could be a notification, triggered when the player decides interacting with the pet

You could have a message pop up towards the bottom of the screen, like when you click on someone's house. I don't know what the character limits are for those messages, but I don't think that you would need/want anything more than a short message popping up for a short time.

You could even set this up as an optional quest. Maybe something where you have to hit level 30 when you can buy the first pet in the pet store and the pet store owner offers to teach you how to interact with pets if you can gather/do something. Yeah, you can buy pets or find pets at lower levels, but since you have level requirements for quests and the store owner doesn't care yellow archers or the like it could be tied to the pet store. (DaHobbit mentioned at spawn one time that there are two pets you can even get at level 0 if you want to ask yourself some trivia. ;) ) It'd be optional to do the quest and you should also have the option to turn such notices off/on.

I d like Pets have a 'wisdom' due to their level, for example a crazed lion could say to me don t bring him to other lions, or war dog don t want enter in ogre halflings cave, or a worm warns me i don t have enough dex to face certain mobs ...
don t take this as precise requests of developement, just let Mind create situations. brainstorming
:)

btw to avoid problems that some players could not like it , maybe an option could be: when i buy a pet i can decide if will be 'normal one' or 'interactive type', also price could be different.
