Either way that teleporter is ridiculous

It's the teleporter in the caves behind the dungeon of doom rearrow

I have wasted over 6 hours today trying the teleporter to get to the bottom left room where the mage is there. Not even success 1 time. Can anyone tell me is it even worth going there?? What is the reward and what does the NPC need?

: Show: 1k lightening staff. I cannot remember what i had to bring him the first time but it may have been 3 or 5 extra mana pots

I can't seem to go there even 1 time. How can u go again and again. More than 8 hours already i spent...not even once i could succeed..
How can u go there? Is there any special way to go there?
Am i missing something?
