LoL, well said ... anyway, I completely understand what you're saying, and was trying to help you progress through a part where you say you are stuck, and unable to advance through... you've mentioned several ways of getting xp and gold, I was simply offering a better method for both...
It seems to me that you are looking for an old-school style rpg, but one which offers many (presumably at least a couple hundred) hours of game play where no grinding is needed... I do not believe you will find such a game, especially on the android platform. I'm not trying to sound mean or be a jerk or anything, but in my gaming experience with this genre of game, grinding xp and gold is a staple... a necessary part of the game.
Outside of this complaint, you bring up a lot of good ideas, thank you for that
I hate to suggest other games, but the type of game you're looking for they don't really make anymore (Forgotten Tales RPG comes close, but, could use some tweaking).
When I get a hankering for that type of gameplay, I use emulators to play the oldschool games that were much better designed than most newer ones.
IMO thats the best route to go if you're looking for a good, non-linear experience. But, if you do decide to find another game, check back every few months.. the game(s) are updated regularly.
Pal, I appreciate your interest but I don't need it. If I want I can get the enhanced version of Baldurs Gate for android. But I like the concept behind Forgotten Tales: simple, clear tasks, easy to be resumed when needed. It is just that the RPG version is simply broken: go and check my thread about getting stuck after completing all quests and you will see the calculations.
Dr DOOM wrote:All good. We will welcome you if change mind.
Are u one of the programmer? Does you answer mean that you aren't going to fix the game balance?
I understand your frustration, and I admire your passion. My suggestion was meant with best intent...
Forgotten Tales RPG and MMORPG has only one programmer. Granted, the mmo gets more attention than the rpg, but, he has made some big upgrades to both. He does make money, but its not a huge amount or anything.. not enough to hire a whole team of programmers anyway. So for any big mechanics changes (and some are being looked at), you will have to be patient.
The staff team of moderators and administrators are all volunteers.. they are not paid. They do their best to help all players, and make sure the best ideas on the forum get attention (such as yours). However there's not much else they can do except offer advice, hear your voice, and note your issues.
DOOM is a longtime player of the mmo, passionate for the game. He is well known, respected, and feared in the game. His responses to your posts are of respect, and his invitation a compliment. You could do much worse for friends in the mmo.
We all appreciate your input, and you make some very good points and suggestions. A player such as yourself would be an asset to the mmo, its unfortunate it doesn't interest you. Thank you for your posts, and I hope that if you do leave, that you come back eventually.
Sorry for short messages: replying from smartphone now. I appreciate your message but want to point out 1 matter: I'm pretty sure that all my suggestions are within the possibilities offered by the current game engine. It is just a matter of manipulating variables.
So, really hope that some relevant fixes will be introduced because I like this game but I refuse to spend 2 hours to grind enough do for a new level up!
Hi, I just want to give satisfaction to the ones f you who have pointed me toward the isle on the SW corner, with new equipment, and show once more how broken is this game.
1 - GRINDING FOR EXPERIENCE POINTS
As stated in another thread, please consider that now EACH of my party members needs 590.000 XPs to level up, and that the strongest enemy that I can face and kill (but just because I have the mage) is the blue knight. Each of them gives me 34.200 XPs, which means that I have to kill a bit more than 86 of them to level up, which means that I can handle from 6 to 8 per time with a moderate risk to have one of my dummy henchmen killed in battle (which means reloading again and again).
So, it means to repeat the luring process from 14 to 10 times just for ONE level that changes nothing since there is no affordable nor available equipment around.
If I try with vampires, I need to kill more than 39 just for one level, while I can face one or two per time, consuming A LOT of gold in healing and mana potions. It means repeating a tedious process from 20 to 40 times.
2 - MAKING MONEY FOR THE BEST EQUIPMENT IN THE GAME
After your advise of that last shop in the S-W isle surrounded by killer flies and ghost archers, I have thought if there was a way to make faster money ... and I got it immediately, but probably it wasn't meant to be so by programmers. It was been enough to collect enough gold nuggets (in the map with Amazons and lizard men) to craft a couple of golden armors, that I have quickly sold in the blacksmith's shop: they have provided an outstanding sum of money (even if I had to recklessly click on my smartphone - something like 300 in total - to get a successful crafting due to the 5% rate of success - what a waste of time! Again, *BORING*!).
So without grinding for the lame Earth Robes, I have had the chance to buy everything that I could equip in the island and ... guess what? NOTHING CHANGED!
My party is not a match for the blue knights yet, since my henchmen have enough dexterity to hit them but the blue knights' armor class is so high that none of my party members can deal enough damage unless rolling a 4 or 5.
So, let's see what has happened for the "moderate" sum of 15K to buy the new equipment!
My party stats before the new equipment vs. after the new equipment: (Damage/Mana, Armor, Dexterity)
MAIN: 59-45-42 vs 71-89-45
ARCHER 64-30-43 vs 74-55-43
DWARF 68-44-42 vs 80-88-45
OGRE 61-47-42 vs 73-91-45
MAGE 139-41-9 vs 139-41-9
The increment is only of 59 points per character! Even less for the archer (who can't use shields) and 0 for the mage, since there was no new equipment! Cool!
But now let's see my foes' stats: Blue Knights Damage 70, Armor 80, Dexterity 42 (it means that they can easily harm my archer and mage and swarming is very risky in their area with so plenty of bushes that hamper the movement and lead my henchmen to suicidal manoeuvres!) Vampire swordman: Damage 200, Armor 100, Dexterity 45 (it means that I need to have at least Dexterity 49 to have a sure hit and have a damage rate of 300 to deal at least 100 damage per attack to kill him in 80 hits - has 8.000 life points). All this for only 75.000 experience points, that will presumably be nothing for when I will be strong enough to face them without relying on expensive potions.) Spectral Archer: Damage 600, Armor 200, Dexterity 90 (it means that I need to have at least Dexterity 94 to have a sure hit and have a damage rate of 300 to deal at least 100 damage per attack to kill him in 600 hits - has 60.000 life points).
Please note that, at this rate, each of my party members need an increment of 234 skill points to be barely able to face a single vampire (enough dexterity and damage), which means to grind for 117 levels just by killing Blue Knights, which means A LOT OF TIME, because we can assume a total of 140 millions of XPs total at least. Not to mention the other creatures that are just too powerful.
The most funny part is that, if I would be so foolish to pay for those levels, they would cost me 1222 euros!
And that, again, the equipment needed to face monsters is totally useless because, if you can reach the shop without sneaking through the monsters, it just mean that you are so strong that you don't need it anymore.
AS RESULT, THE ONLY LOGIC CONCLUSION IS THAT COMPLETING THE RPG GAME AS IT IS NOW IS IMPOSSIBLE Unless you spend all of your time with it and have an infinite patience that goes on the edge of masochism. No doubt that things are different in the MMORPG but, as stated, I'm just not interested about it.
And, if you wonder, I talk with such an awareness because I'm 35 years old, HR psychologist with experience in ergonomics and human-machine interface behavioural processes and, as hobby, have quite an experience about modding games (including Temple of Elemental Evil and Neverwinter series) and have been a D&D master for years.
