boss dragon randomly disappearing

how long does the dragon boss stay after he spawns at 5 mins past the hour im on the middle southish map, normally he stays around for a minute so if im at the centre i can run over to him as fast as. However he last 2 times he spawns i see the red dot and it goes faster than i can blink ??? whats going on

Unfortunately, this happens sometimes if no one is near the dragon when he spawns... I've been to enough boss dragon spawns to be disappointed too. The best tactic to use, is to get several players and everyone spread out.. at least one player to each quadrant.
