Re: Stats for mage
For mage you of course need mana to be able to use your flow spells but I don't recommend adding str or dex, you can add to arm if you would like a bit more health seeing that mages generally have lower HP points. I wish I could explain it better but this is all I got right now, maybe someone else could add to what I'm saying.

Re: Stats for mage
Just try it. Test various builds for yourself.
You can use the stat reset mage on map 0.0 after each level-up at no cost.

Re: Stats for mage
Your stat build really depends upon how you want to play the game. If you put 100% of your stat points into mana, you will be able to attack at your highest possible ability. However, that leaves no stat points in STR, DEX or ARM. You really don't need STR unless you want to attack with your wand, in which case you should just make an archer. DEX doesn't really help you much except that it can help you to reduce enemy's damage to you. If you DEX is high enough against a particular monster, that monster's chance to hit you is minimized drastically. Your ARM increases your HP. Add HP until you are high enough to sustain some attacks, but not so much that you weaken your MANA too much.
As they say above, play a while, reset & change your stats, and see what works best for you and your playing style.

Re: Stats for mage
Thank you everyone for your input. I will only be player vs monster so very helpful information. It's nice to be able to reset your stats. Looks like I'll need some dex for my wand attacks:-(

Re: Stats for mage
The wand attack is physical. Str and Dex are needed to make it effective, but that takes away from mana, which is the power for a mage.
