Spider Shield

I went to enter the cave with what I assume to contain the spider shield and it said that I need a map, a rope, and a candle. Any idea where I can get these items?

The shield is in another dungeon, in the same map of the one you attempted to enter. Entrance is in that little peninsula a bit to the right than the still forbidden cave
