Game needs more GMs
But the game needs more of you.
Once upon a time there was a much larger team, many more events, and very fast support.
I would like to see such a thing again, if that is possible.
Where are all the people of integrity in this game? Are there any left? Or maybe, they're just not willing to be GMs (an understandable choice).
Perhaps its time the team got upgraded.
Suggestion to Creator
Perhaps its time you consider hiring a team. Just consider it please. I think, and I believe many of the community does, that if the team were increased, it would make the game a better place. I hope something like this can fit in with your vision of the game.
Best of luck to you Creator, and the team.

Re: Game needs more GMs
Had another related idea.
Perhaps the team could be diversified.
As is, being a GM is an "all or nothing" thing.
What I mean is, a GM is actually several jobs that could be split up into smaller jobs, lessening the workload on all.
For example:
Administrators that supervise the rest of the GMs
Forum moderation and rule enforcement
Game moderation and rule enforcement
Event planner and Event host (these could be one job or two)
I've seen in the past that some players have wanted to just be forum moderators, or just be game moderators. IIRC most that wanted to be game moderators were because they didn't/couldn't use the forum; and those that wanted to be forum moderators just wanted to keep it clean and tidy.
Adding the event planner position could be interesting, as of course, players keep mentioning there's no spawn parties or other events anymore. This was a cool feature of the game that should be brought back I think. Also, I was gone for a while, but was there ever an event done with that spikey ball thing? I know one GM who was working on ideas for it, he confided in me, but he's no longer around, so that won't happen.
Also, maybe there should be a more active supervision of the GMs from the admins? I bring this up as I saw another case of "mod abuse" has happened since I was gone. This doesn't have to be anything special... just look into their daily (or weekly) usage of the spawn command... see if they're spawning stuff they shouldn't be. To make matters easier, going with the event position idea, perhaps a special character GM could be created just to use for spawn parties, perhaps used by all GMs in turn, to make checking of logs easier.
As always, feel free to agree or disagree, but most of all, feel free to comment.
Just an old player looking to help improve the game, as this was a big feature of this game... we could provide input.
Hope that the GM team and Creator himself read this, and consider it. Also, hope the community chimes in with additional ideas. After all, it is the community that makes this game so great.

Re: Game needs more GMs
These are good ideas aiming to improve game and help GMs and Admins handle it
I believe it could be useful to ask players to name out what they need most, so to help Game Staff understand what's most missed or expected. Game could have almost'GM ones, allowed to perform specific tasks.
Consider alliances: once two dukes agree in allying their clan, they need GM online to set it up, or they write an Admin. GMs and Admins don't have to evaluate the alliance quality and approuve it: they just have to set it up.
Were there in game a few trusted players given the power to set alliances (if that is possible on tech point of view) they might help light this task out form GMs and Admins shoulders.
Organising events, races, treasures hunts and so on might be a task for an almost-GM player as well

Very good idea. Lets get the community involved.ardesia wrote: I believe it could be useful to ask players to name out what they need most, so to help Game Staff understand what's most missed or expected.
Everyone, tell your friends in game to get their butts on the forum and voice their opinions.
Best way to help the game move forward.

You can be a GM if you want, post in the recruiting forum and maybe accept it on the team. I think some people could help you get into the team;)SSephiroth wrote:Had another related idea.

Thank you for the vote of confidence, especially in someone you hardly know; that's a big leap of faith that's well appreciated.DAVEmanda wrote: You can be a GM if you want, post in the recruiting forum and maybe accept it on the team. I think some people could help you get into the team;)
However, a basic knowledge of the game is required. I'm afraid that I'm so out of date, that I could not be of much use in the game.
Plus, I don't think I'm capable of providing the commitment required for such a thing.
Specifically, at this point in my life I don't think I could be objective enough.
I think, the temptation to punish the wicked would be too great for me, and that's against the rules, plain and simple.
HOWEVER
If my above ideas are considered...
I would consider being a Forum Moderator only... maybe... still doing the "wait and see" of how my experiment goes.
I love forums... I'm sure the GMs are having a great old time having to approve all my posts lol
(@GMs, just kidding, I'm trying to be constructive and helpful, and I have mad respect for you guys)

Re: Game needs more GMs
Yes ft needs more GM's but the problem is getting the right GM not everyone's cut out for the job. I would rather them spend longer on interviews and get someone that wouldn't abuse the powers. Training new GM's is also a problem there's not many active teachers.
On a side note I have to say I'm very proud of the GM's that I trained none of them have gone bad

Re: Game needs more GMs
Maybe I should take back what I said.
I don't think I'd be a good forum moderator, either.
A couple of my posts were disapproved.
I do not dispute that; one I completely understand.
The other... well, I do recall I was trying to incite discussion... and perhaps it was too much.
I honestly don't remember what I attempted to post though :/
Its too bad I can no longer view the post, and see what exactly I did wrong.
Again, I do not dispute nor object to this; but it makes me think I should try harder before I post something.
Anyways, thank you GM, for taking the time to read all my posts. I am quite happy that most of them made it through
