ice gremlins

a few weeks ago i noticed that for the quest where you had to kill x ice gremlins (forgot the amount) there was sonething strange happening if you brought pets.
using a mage and pets and killing a spawn with 10+ icegremlins counted as one gremlin only.
when pets could not kill ( parked) and mage killed a spawn alone the count was normal.
since i quickly reached the count needed and couldnt reconstruct i didnt report in forum.

Now for a new quest we need 3warrior apprentice rings (ice gremlin drop) and iv killed close to 4500 now using pets without a single drop.
So im wondering if this is the same bug?

Quests related killings require no pets helping you

follow up question: does that includes nodrops by pets? i havent noticed differences in droprates with mushy bones o, gold tokens, etc when they were needed for quests.
obly with these gremlins. but i might just have been very unlucky lol. have had dry spells on other drops before.

does it mean i wont get a drop when i bring my pets?

and if it applies to droprate it would mean that when you get a quest needing an item its droprate drasticly goes down, afyer ypu finish quest it goes up again.
It would also mean that those with more higher lvl accounts have another advantage. they could get the dropwith the account which didnt do quest. meaning that doing quests becomes a disadvantage at some points.
also of course another advantage for those with money.

Since I can't kill some monsters w/o pets, and those monsters won't drop quest items if killed by pets ... that's a real catch-22!

I'm confused. Ardesia's reply implies that if the pet kills the monster, then there is no quest item drop. period.

are quest item drops treated differently than non-quest item drops?

There is an earlier quest with the ice gremlins . You have to kill so many (50?) and that is the quest: no drops required.

For the second one, you have to kill them for the apprentice rings.

In both quests, only kills by the player count. Pet kills are not counted.

Just to clarify

Ice gremlins drop rings whether you use pets or not

So you can use pets to get rings

The only time pets cannot be involved is if you have to kill x amount for a quest
