I brought the shield, armor, and bow to the magus on the fairy island which brought up the quest to bring a giant bat. I brought the bat and the magus was talking about collecting items from the astral plane and such, but afterwards I still have the quest to bring a giant bat to the magus. After the quest dialog finished there was a really low level guy running away while getting chased by fairies (I skirted the left side to avoid that), so did my bat die during the new quest dialog or something? If I was getting the new quest dialog shouldn't that mean the old/bat quest would be finished anyhow?
Thanks for any clarification.

Re: Magus giant bat quest
You lose the bat as part of the quest IIRC.
So if you closed the quest, it wasn't the player I think.

Re: Magus giant bat quest
I know the bat will leave as part of the quest, but it just looks like it wasnt satisfied for whatever reason. I don't have a "collect 15 [whatevers]" quest and still have the "bring a giant bat" quest, so my thought is some idiot got my bat killed a few seconds too soon and I have to do it again.
I really wanted to be sure for any mission like this, whether it be the princess, bat, etc., that the pet must survive through the dialogue to count as completion and it wasn't some fluke thing. I suppose it'd also be like bringing a non-pet to an npc and you die during the dialoge, and I don't think you start at spawn with your reward in hand.
Thank you.

Re: Magus giant bat quest
Ah I misunderstood.
Well, it depends on how the quest is actually written I think.
I suppose it would be possible to write them where he takes the pet first, and then talks, in such quests.
I think some quests have dialogue before and after, when bringing a pet somewhere.
But, most of the quests of this nature are like this I think; the pet has to survive until the actual taking of it.

Well, I'm glad it was not a bug/fluke/problem, thank you. A mild annoyance is nothing to blow out of proportion, as is true in life. FYI for anyone who does just that, the rest of us enjoy some good schadenfreude every now and then!
