Where: Map 4.-1 scientist quest
What: The scientist asks you to get an ape skull. In additon, the quest log asks for an ape skull. Ape should probably be changed to caveman.
Why: There is no ape or ape skull in the game. The scientist wants the caveman skull, as detailed in the quest logs post. It is also Caveman skull in the items list.

Doesn't the scientist believe they are apes, and only after inspecting the skull does he realize it is from a caveman?

I think that is right and we must also conclude that scientist is bonkers! 
I am sure he thinks the crazed lions on that map are saber toothed tigers!

I agree with the OP here. The language in quest logs should be consistent. Easy fix.
