Has this drop rate changed recently or am I just crazy?

It was 5%, now it seems more like 1% or 2%

Their selling price now much higher, and people were grinding there...

Yes, it's better because it was easy to won gold.

Last time I saw a number there, it was 2.5%.
And that is a good sign. This way there is no one 'best' place for farming gold, while being in top 5 for XP for all levels.
Those things are well kept separated.

Its great place for XP, especially for 30-200 lvls

Yes, it is. And it was spoiled imo by high-levels coming there for quick buck. When they come with 2 pets, it's not that quick though. And you could hit an unlucky streak of such high earners.
