I live in the UK and they are available here as well. Tbh I was under the impression that a brand name like Google is available pretty much worldwide. If not, fair enough - but there may well be other avenues for Joe to take rather than relying on the unlikely scenario of someone using their credit card to purchase something for a complete stranger.

google is worldwide but some things like vouchers and other services are initially only in the us, and rolled out slowly to other countries. some european first. I looked at vouchers about a year ago, because I have no creditcard too. it seems they have been rolled out further. but they definitaly not yet here in thailand.
its no critisism to you. but it sometimes frustates me that answers and comments often seem to assume people live in usa or richer western countries.

this also happens a lot with problems and performance, recommending to.use broaddband and wifi is not very helpfull if its not available in a 200km range lol. and unfortunataly development seems to be geared and tested on high lvl platforms with high speed connections.

Fair point - I sense your frustration and I wasn't really thinking about worldwide location, more alternative options. Other than credit card and Google play I have no idea how to buy extra items on here. Paypal maybe? Something else I've never heard of?

It is also possible to create virtual card. Google it, i dont know which services are available in your country. I use it to pay in internet, without risk to lose all money from usual card.

I can buy now if I wanted. they introduced prepaid debit cards here...

but what attracted me to ft originally is that it didnt need high speed connections and credit cards.
2 years ago there was only edge here. now we got 3 g.
2 years ago i couldnt play the famous mmorpg s. connections were too slow, phone requrements to big.

fts edge was it didnt need all that power.
now it seems to need better connections, more powerfull devices and more cash than many others which are far more famous. i find that a shame.
still it is the only one where playershave a big influence on dvelopment. so i still play lol

you can still play on old devices, and you can play the entire game (100%, even including ALL the best gear) without spending any money at all... not many games can say that. (obviously if you want to be "top dog" you'll have to buy levels... I just don't want to lose sight of the fact that you can play the entire game for free
