I think the actual level of the player is incidental

It has been said for fishing that increasing one's skill level does not increase their chance of fishing items. You begin to catch more fish per minute though, so you have more chances to fish items.

Same thing for mining where a dwarf with skill 11 or whatever is going to be quickly getting ores. More chances per minute of getting soul/meteor stones so it may seem like you get more.

But OP, I doubt it.

As some classes are better than others at mining in particular, is it possible that due to his mining skill/affinity/pickaxe level it increased his chances of mining a meteor stone? Just a quick thought..

Yes these are all very good valid points. Besides, I thoroughly enjoy mining right by my house in good old Ashdown village.

My favorite place in all FT.
